18 PROGRAM PLAYProgram PlayThe CDR 20’s advanced programming systemenables you to preset the order in which tracksare played, to repeat one track or all tracks, or torepeat any segment of a disc without regard totrack numbers.Programming Play ListsTo program the order of playback for the trackson a disc, insert the disc, let the unit read theTable of Contents information, and wait until thedisc has stopped and the number of tracks andtotal running time is displayed. Next, select thedeck that will be programmed by pressing theCDP Select button 3 on the remote for thePlay Deck 3 or the CDR Select button on the remote for the Record Deck %.To begin the programming sequence, press theProgram button 4 and note that the PROGIndicator B will illuminate and theInformation Display K will show00 00 : 00.Next, enter the track numbers to be played bypressing the Numeric Keys F. For two-digittrack numbers, be certain to enter the seconddigit within three seconds after the first numberis entered. As each track is entered, the displaywill blink three times, alternating between twodisplays. The first display will show the tracknumber just entered on the left side of theInformation Display K under the TrackIndicator O, while the right side will flash thenumber of steps that have been programmed.For example, after programming the first stepto be track number 3, the display will flash03P-01 .Alternating with the track number and programstep will be a display of the track and the totalrunning time of all tracks that have beenprogrammed so far. For example, a display of06 11:25 will indicate that track number sixwas the last track programmed, and that thetotal time of all tracks so far is 11 minutes and25 seconds. The Total Time Indicators NLwill flash with this display to remind you of thedisplay’s contents.These displays will alternate three times, andthen show a steady display of the total time andlast track programmed.Now you can continue to add tracks in the orderyou wish to have them played until the program-ming session is complete. You may add up to 20tracks, repeating a track if desired, as long asthe total number does not exceed 20. If youexceed the 20 track limit, the display will readF U L L. Tracks may also be added using theNext PÓˆ and Previous buttons8Ô˜ to locate the track, and theProgram button 4 to enter that track to theprogrammed sequence. In that case you’ve notto wait until the steady display is shown beforthe next track can be programmed.When the complete list of tracks has beenentered, press the Play button 9*˘. Thetracks will then play in the order they have beenentered. Note that a programmed list of tracksmay also be recorded if the disc being pro-grammed is in the Play Deck 3. Follow theinstructions on page 20 for complete informa-tion on recording and dubbing.Checking, Editing and ClearingProgrammed Play ListsOnce you have entered a program list it willremain in the unit’s memory until the disc isremoved or the unit is turned off. Thus, if youplay through a program list, simply press thePlay button 9*˘ again to replay the list.If you find that you wish to check the list ormake changes, that is also possible by followinga few simple steps.To scroll through a program list, press theProgram Check button 7. Each press of thebutton will move through the tracks that havebeen programmed. The display will alternatebetween the track number of the program stepnumber (e.g. 12 P-03 tells you that track 12on the disc is the 3rd program step) and thetrack number and the total running time so farin the program (e.g. 12 16:04 tells you thatat this point you have programmed a total of 16minutes and 4 seconds of material).At any point in the list you may insert a newtrack by simply entering the track number usingthe Numeric Keys F. Simply press the but-tons that correspond to the number of the trackyou wish to add. Any tracks that are in the pro-gram will remain.To remove a step in the program, first use theProgram Check button 7 to locate the trackyou wish to delete. Next, press the Clear button". The information in the display will blinkand the step will be removed from the programlist. Program steps need not be deleted in anyorder; as long as you have located a step in theprogram list, it may be erased.To cancel an entire program list while the pro-gram is playing, press the Program button 4and note that the Program Indicator B willgo out. To remove a total program list when thedisc is stopped, simply open and close the discdrawer. Whenever a disc is removed or the unitis turned off, the program list is erased.Repeat PlayThe CDR 20’s programming system enables youto repeat either a single track on a disc, theentire disk (or all programmed tracks), or a spe-cially programmed passage that you select.Repeat One TrackTo repeat the track you are currently listening to,press the Repeat button H and note that theRepeat Indicator D and the 1 Repeat-Status Indicator E will both light. If the trackis changed by using the Next/Previous Skipbutton 8PÓÔˆ˜ while the Repeat1 mode is active, the new track will now berepeated.Once Repeat 1 playback has been started, it willcontinue until the unit is stopped by pressing theStop button N&¸, or the disc deck isopened by pressing the appropriateOpen/Close button 7$2 . When play-back is stopped, the Repeat sequence is erasedand must be reentered if you wish to repeat atrack on another disc.Repeat All TracksTo repeat all the tracks on a disc (or all pro-grammed tracks) in order, press the Repeat but-ton H twice while the disc is playing and notethat the Repeat Indicator D and the AllRepeat-Status Indicator E will light. Oncethe Play button 9*˘ is pressed, the discwill play through from beginning to end continu-ally, until the Stop button N&¸ is pressed.The Repeat All function may be cancelled at anytime by pressing the Repeat button H onceuntil both the Repeat Indicator D and AllRepeat-Status Indicators E go out. TheRepeat All Function is also canceled when thedisc drawer is opened.
