The factory default settingfor these menus leaves them on the screen for 20seconds after a period of inactivity before they disap-pear from the screen (Time-Out). Time-Out is a safetymeasure to prevent image retention of the menu textin your monitor or projector, which might happen if itwere left on indefinitely. Although some multiroom installationswill require the services of a specially trained installer, it ispossible for the average do-it-yourself hobbyist to installa simple remote room system.InstallationThe key to remote room operation is to link the remoteroom to the DPR 1001’s location with wire for aninfrared link and speakers or an amplifier. For installationinstructions for Multiroom use, see page 15.Multiroom SetupOnce the audio and IR link connections have beenmade, the DPR 1001 needs to be configured for multi-room operation using the steps below. Press the OSDButton to bring the MAIN menu (Figure 1)to the screen. Press the ¤ Navigation Button nuntil the MULTI-ROOM line is highlighted. Pressthe Set Button p to enter the MULTI-ROOMmenu (Figure 14).Figure 14When the MULTI-ROOM menu appears, theMULTI-ROOM line will be highlighted. Since thisline is used to turn the system on and off, do not makean adjustment here unless you wish to turn the systemon at this time. To turn the system on, press the ›Navigation Button n so that ON appears. If you donot wish to turn the system on at this time or to proceedto the next step, press the ¤ Navigation Button nso that the MULTI IN line is highlighted. At the MULTI IN line, press the ‹/› NavigationButtons n until the desired input to the multiroomsystem appears. When the selection has been made, press the ¤ Navigation Button n once so that theMULTI VOL line is highlighted. At the MULTI VOL line, press the ‹/›Navigation Buttons n until the desired volume levelfor the multiroom system is entered. DO NOT use theregular volume control knobs for this setting. When allsettings for the multiroom setup have been made, press the ⁄/¤ Navigation Buttons n until theRETURN TO MAIN MENU line is highlighted. If you have no other adjustments to make, press theOSD Button to exit the menu system.Multiroom Amplifier ConfigurationSince the DPR 1001 is equipped with seven channelsof amplification, they may be allocated to either full 7.1channel operation, or they may alternatively be used topower speakers that are fed the output of the multiroomsystem. Thus, when only 5.1 channels are required forthe main listening room, you may power speakers in asecond zone without the need for additional externalamplifiers. This is a major improvement over the use ofsimple “Speaker A/B” switches, as it allows for a fullyseparate source and independent volume levels at theremote location. To configure the DPR so that the amplifiers normallyused for the Surround Back channels are used for themultiroom system, you must make an adjustment in theADVANCED menu (Figure 13). To start the adjust-ment, press the OSD Button to bring theMAIN menu to the screen. Next, press the ¤Navigation Button n until the ADVANCED lineis highlighted in reverse video. Press the Set Buttonp to enter the ADVANCED menu. When the ADVANCED menu is on the screen, theSB AMPS item at the top of the menu list will behighlighted in reverse video. Press the ‹/› NavigationButtons n so that the right side of the menu linechanges to MULTI ROOM.When this configuration adjustment is complete, pressthe ⁄/¤ Navigation Buttons n until RETURNTO MAIN MENU is highlighted in reverse videoand press the Set Button p to select another menufor adjustment. If no further adjustments are required, press the OSD Button to exit the menu system.IMPORTANT NOTE: Once the amplifiers are configuredas shown above so that the multiroom outputs are pow-ered by the DPR’s internal amplifier, the speaker configu-ration will automatically be reset for 5.1 channel opera-tion in the main room. This means that 6.1/7.1-channeloperation will not be possible until the setting shownabove is returned to OFF. For that reason, use of theinternal amplifier for multiroom operation is recommendedonly if your main listening room uses a 5.1 speakersystem. If the main room has a 6.1 or 7.1 speakersetup, it will be necessary to use an optional, externalpower amplifier to power the speakers used in themultiroom system.313131* M U L T I - R O O M *M U L T I - R O O M : O F FM U L T I I N : F M P R E S E T 0 1M U L T I V O L : 2 5 d BR E T U R N T O M A I N M E N U31313131
