CD PLAYBACK28 CD PLAYBACKMany functions of the DVD 27 operate the same wayfor CD playback as for DVD play; however, there aresome important differences. When a CD is loaded, theDVD 27 will automatically display the PlayerInformation menu. Status banners are not availableduring CD play. A greater variety of playback optionsare available during CD play, including Random playand programmed playlists. These and other featuresunique to CD play are described in this section.Using the Player Information MenuThe DVD 27’s Player Information menu displays discinformation and enables you to program playbackmodes. Press the Info Button i to display thePlayer Information menu (Figure 14).Figure 14The Player Information Menu has two submenus whichmay be accessed by using the ⁄¤ NavigationButtons n to highlight the submenu’s icon, andpressing the Enter Button s to select it. Thesesubmenus are different from the Setup menus in thatmany items are for display only and cannot bechanged using the menu system.PLAYBACK INFO Submenu: This submenudisplays basic disc and playback mode information(see Figure 14).n Disc: This line displays the disc type, such asCDDA (Compact Disc Digital Audio).n Audio: This line displays the type of audio recordedon the disc, usually Stereo.n Playlist: For CDs only, you may choose to playthe tracks in order as they appear on the disc,or you may program a playlist containing someor all of the tracks in the order in which you wishto hear them. This line indicates which of thesetwo modes has been selected. In order tochange this setting, you will need to access thePROGRAM submenu as described below.n Repeat: With this line highlighted, press theEnter Button s to activate Repeat mode. Eachpress will change the repeat mode from Repeat 1(to repeat one track) to Repeat All (to repeat alltracks on the disc) to Repeat Off.n Random: With this line highlighted, press theEnter Button s to activate Random mode.Each press will toggle between turning theRandom play on or off.n Track: This line displays the current track on theleft, and the total number of tracks on the disc tothe right.n Play Mode Icon: This icon will appear to the rightof the Track display and will indicate the currentplayback mode.n Time: This section consists of three lines:• Track Elapsed: Displays the elapsed or remain-ing time of the current track.• Disc Elapsed: Displays the elapsed or remain-ing time of the disc.• Elapsed Time Bar: Displays in graphical form atemperature bar reflecting the percentage of thedisc that has been played.Use the ⁄¤ Navigation Buttons n to highlighteither Track Elapsed or Disc Elapsed, and each pressof the Enter Button s will toggle between theelapsed and remaining settings. The time displayed tothe right and in the front-panel Information Display@ will change accordingly.The Time Search function enables you to start play-back at any point in the program. Use the ⁄¤Navigation Buttons n to highlight the time display.Press the Numeric Keys R followed by the EnterButton s to select a new point in the track fromwhich to commence play.Figure 15PROGRAM Submenu: This submenu lets youprogram a playlist. The PROGRAM submenu isonly accessible for CDs (see Figure 15).n Disc: This line displays the disc type.n Audio: This line displays the type of audio record-ed on the disc, usually Stereo.n Playlist: With this line highlighted, press the EnterButton s to change the order in which thetracks are played from the order in which theyappear on the disc (Disc’s order)to a playlist order which you may program(Programmed order). A list of pro-gram steps and the track programmed for eachstep will appear at the bottom of the screen. Youmay enter a track number using the NumericKeys R and then press the ¤ NavigationButton D to program another track. Use the⁄¤‹› Navigation Buttons D to select thedesired program steps. Note that you may notenter a track more than once in the playlist, if itappears in an earlier step. However, you may usethe Repeat function while the playlist is playing.After you have finished programming the playlist,press the Play Button 3v to begin play. Seepage 33 for more information.Figure 16When you have finished viewing the Player menus,press the Info Button i to remove the displaysfrom the screen and return to normal play.Selecting a TrackTo select a track, make sure the Player Informationmenu is on screen. Press the Info Button i toactivate it if necessary. Next, press the ⁄¤‹ ›Navigation Buttons D so that the Track Numberis highlighted. Use the Numeric Keys R to enterthe desired track, and press the Enter Button Ito begin playing the new track.To select a specific track on a CD at any time duringplayback, simply press the number corresponding tothe track you wish to listen to using the NumericKeys R. You may also move one by one throughthe chapters at any time by pressing the SkipReverse (Previous)/Skip Forward (Next) Buttons56AO. When you press the Previous Aor Skip Reverse 6 button once, the player willreturn to the start of the current track. Additionalpresses of either button will step back through theavailable tracks, one at a time.NOTE: When a JPEG, MP3 or Windows Media disc isplaying, a special screen will appear.
