10 OPERATIONOperationLoading and Unloading DiscsTo load a disc, first turn the unit on (if not soalready) by pressing the Power Switch 1 onthe front panel or the Power On button 1 onthe remote, then press the Open/Close button$ F taking care to make certain that thespace in front of the drawer is not obstructed.Note that if the drawer is blocked whenattempting to open it, it will automatically stopthe motor for opening the tray after 10 secondsand an ERROR message will appear in the frontdisplay to protect the mechanism. When the unitis turned off (to Standby), pressing any buttonon the front panel will turn the unit on. WhenPlay button 4 9 on the front or on theremote is pressed, the unit will automaticallyturn on and start playing the disc actuallyloaded.Load the disc in the tray with the printed (label)side facing up. Make certain that the disc is cen-tered in the tray. Either 12cm (5") or 8cm (3")discs may be used. When an 8cm disc is played, itshould be carefully centered within the smallerridges inside the cassette drawer.To retract the drawer back into the player afterloading a disc, press the Open/Close button$ F.When the drawer is closed the displaywill indicate the total number of tracks on thedisc and the total running time of the disc.The drawer will also close when the Play button4 9 is pressed. The drawer will close and thedisc will start playing the first track.To remove a disc from the player, press theOpen/Close button $ F. The drawer willopen, allowing the disc to be removed.Disc Handling NotesWhen loading or unloading discs, it is best tohold them by the edges.While Compact Discs are very reliable, roughhandling may damage them. Avoid scratching thebottom (non-printed) side of discs, or anyhandling which will leave fingerprints.To avoid damage to the disc and player, alwaysseat discs so that they are centered in the tray.Do not lift the player while the disc tray isopening or closing, as this may cause the disc tounseat from the tray and possibly jam.Normal PlayTo play a disc, first turn the HD 755 on using thePower Switch 1 on the front panel or thePower On button 1 on the remote control.When the unit is turned off (to Standby), press-ing any button on the front panel will turn theunit on. When Play button 4 9 on the frontor on the remote is pressed, the unit willautomatically turn on and start playing the discactually loaded.To load or change a disc open the disc drawerby pressing the Open/Close button $ F.Place a disc in the tray following the instructionsshown above.Pressing the Open/Close button once a disc hasbeen carefully seated will close the disc drawerwhile the message CLOSING will appear in theinformation display. As soon as the tray is closedthe display will show the message TRACKINGwhile the table of content (TOC) of the disc isread. Note that particulary with CD-RW discsthis tracking may take some time due to thereflectibility and data structure different fromnormal discs. Afterwards the Information Displaywill show the total number of tracks on a discand the total running time of the disc.The drawer will also close when the Play button4 9 is pressed. The drawer will close and thedisc will start playing the first track.To play all of the tracks on the disc in order, pressthe Play button 4 9. A play indication flwill appear in the Information Display %.To play all of the tracks in random order, pressthe Random button ) C and then the Playbutton 4 9. The RANDOM indicator will lightwhen that mode is in use. Random can be acti-vated also while a track is playing. WhenRandom is activated while programmed play isin use (see page 13), all programmed tracks willbe played in random order..You may also select a specific track by pressingthe Skip buttons 7 7 until the wished tracknumber is displayed (see page 12). The trackmay also be selected directly by entering thetrack number via the Numeric Controls 2,simply enter the track number by pressing thebuttons that correspond to the desired track.Note that when a two-digit track number isbeing entered, the second digit of the numbermust be pressed within two seconds of the firstdigit.
