INSTALLATION 9InstallationTo prevent possible damage to your speakersand other components in your audio system, it isimportant that ALL components, including theHD 755 and your receiver or preamp and ampli-fiers, are turned off and unplugged from their ACpower source when installing any new compo-nent.Connecting the HD 755 to your audio system issimple. Using standard RCA-to-RCA interconnectcords, connect the left and right Audio Outputjacks ™ on the rear panel to the CD input jackson your receiver, surround processor or preampli-fier.If your system includes an optional externaldigital-to-analog converter, or if you are using areceiver or other processor that has the capabili-ty to decode PCM digital input signals, connectthe Digital Output jack ¡ to the CoaxialDigital input on the decoder. Make certain to usea coaxial-style interconnect cable, as standardaudio cables will not perform as well.Install two AA batteries by turning the remoteover so that you are holding the bottom side up.Press lightly on the embossed arrow on thecover and gently slide the cover towards you inthe direction of the arrow. Insert the batteriesinside the compartment, being careful to followthe + and – polarity indications at the bottom ofthe compartment. Replace the cover by placing iton the remote and sliding it back towards thetop of the remote.NOTE: When replacing batteries, always replaceboth at the same time. When the unit will not beused for an extended period of time, it is also agood idea to remove the batteries so that thepotential for corrosion or damage is avoided.If the HD 755 is installed behind a cabinet orother obstruction that may block the pathbetween the front-panel Remote Sensor 3and the location of the remote, an optionalexternal IR sensor may be used. Connect thesensor to the Remote IR-In Jack £ on therear panel. This jack may also be connected tothe IR-Output jack of another compatibleHarman Kardon component or a compatible IR-system- remote product.You may also use the IR Sensor in the HD 755 tosend commands to other compatible remotecontrolled products. Connect the Remote IR-Out jack ¢ to the input of the other productor system.Connect the power to a nonswitched AC walloutlet or to the accessory outlet on the rear ofanother audio device in your system and you areready to go!NOTE: When using the accessory outlet onanother product to power the HD 755 make cer-tain that it has the compatibility to power adevice that draws at least 14 watts of current inaddition to being able to handle the require-ments of the other devices that may be pluggedinto the accessory outlets. If you use a“switched” outlet, it is important to rememberthat the host product must be turned on in orderfor the HD 755 to operate.
