2.5.3 Setting Transformers TapsCheck taps on the power supply in the exciter. Refer to figure2-1, or drawing 839-7900-504. The logic supply 1A11PS1located in the rear of the power module behind the 1A12 I/Opanel is tapped as shown in chart belowPRIMARY VOLTAGE208-220 230-240JUMPER CONNECTION 2 AND 3 2 AND 3AC CONNECTION 1 AND 5 1 AND 4TRANSFORMER PRIMARY TAPS CHECKED2.5.4 Input SignalsThe input signals and remote control I/O are located on 1A12.See Table 2-2.NOTE: The coax wiring for the External Precise FrequencyControl (PFC) option is installed in the cabinet. If the PFCoption is purchased the wiring will be added to the exciter.INPUT SIGNALS CONNECTED2.5.5 Setup JumpersCheck the set-up jumpers, located in the exciter 1A2 and Inter-face Logic 1A3. Jumpers are normally shipped from the factoryin the positions shown in Table 2-2. They may be changed ifneeded.JUMPERS SET FOR CORRECT CONFIGURATION2.5.6 Backup BatteryCAUTIONDO NOT USE RECHARGEABLE BATTERIESThe battery holder will accept three size AA (NEDA 15A) 1.5Volt batteries. These batteries furnish power to hold the trans-mitter status in the control system and control the return tooperation when AC power returns. The batteries should bereplaced as part of a regular mantenance schedule.2.5.7 RF Output Coax Connections(Refer to 843-5285-110)The RF output connections, 1A15J1 for visual and 1A15J2 foraural are located on the top of the cabinet. Make any desiredVSWR measurements of the RF plant before making finalconnections to the cabinets.2.5.8 InterlocksExternal interlocks are connected to REMOTE COMMAND1A12J21-7. A contact closure to ground must be present to turnon the transmitter. If this interlock is not used, 1A12J21-7 mustbe jumpered to ground. The external contact closure or other device must sink 50microamps to less than 0.5 volts. Open circuit voltage is +5V.INTERLOCK WIRING INSTALLED2.6 Transmitter Check Out2.6.1 Pre-turn on checksCAUTIONBEFORE PROCEEDING WITH CHECK OUT, INSPECT THETRANSMITTER FOR AC POWER SHORTS, LOOSE HARDWARE,WIRING ERRORS, UNCONNECTED WIRES, MISSING PARTS, ANDDEBRIS.2.6.2 Initial Turn-on SequenceThe following procedures are the sequential steps to safely turnon the transmitter, and must be performed in the order listed. Itis recommended that the installation personnel read the generaldescription in section one, the controls and operation materialin section three, and these procedures before starting.a. MODULES MUST NOT BE INSTALLED AT THIS TIMEb. Apply 1 volt p-p video to exciter video input.c. The loss of video indicator should extinguish immediatelyor after the loss of video times out depending on optionthat is jumper selected.d. Press transmitter ON pushbutton.e. Open the external interlock. The external interlock lamp shouldbe illuminated and the transmitter should shut off. Press ONbutton. The transmitter should not come on. Close the interlockcircuit. The external interlock lamp should extinguish.f. Verify operation of RAISE and LOWER switches.g. If the system has a remote control, place transmitter in theREMOTE mode and check for operation of transmitterON/OFF and RAISE/LOWER from the remote.h. Verify that LOCAL mode inhibits remote commands.i. Return exciter to minimum power by depressing andholding LOWER commands for about 15 seconds.j. Measure the 50 volt supply by using the multimeter on thefront of the exciter. It should measure 50 volts.k. Press transmitter OFF pushbutton.2.6.3 Module InstallationThe modules may now be installed. Refer to factory test data forplacement of modules by serial number and slot number. There arethree types of modules, DRIVERS, HIGH POWER DRIVERS andPA’s. The DRIVERS are keyed to be either standard or high powerdrivers and will not fit into a PA slot. Use of a PA in a drive slot isfor emergency only. Although each type is interchangeable fromaural to visual and will work in any like socket, when starting outit is best to reassemble them in the same locations as tested. Keepa record of any changes for future reference.Make sure each module is completely seated.CAUTIONDO NOT USE EXCESSIVE FORCE INSTALLING MODULES INTOTHE SLOTS.Section II - Installation888-2457-001 2-5WARNING: Disconnect primary power prior to servicing.
