22(b) The commissioning engineer mustensure that the user is familiar with the safeand efficient use of the heater, detailing thefunction of all controls and maincomponents.(c) The user should be made aware of thefollowing in particular:(i) Lighting, shutdown, and operationalinformation.(ii) Safety features, data plate, andlabeling.(iii) The requirement for regular inspection -especially if the heater is within a moredemanding environment - and the need forregular servicing carried out by competentand qualified persons.CautionAfter approximately 100 hours of running, the tension of the fan belts must be checkedto ensure that they are correct and that theyhave not stretched. See section 5.2 forfurther instructions.5.0 ServicingWarningServicing must be carried out on a regularbasis, the maximum interval betweenservices being 1 year. It is a requirementthat only suitably qualified and competentpersons are allowed to undertake servicing. Before any maintenance or servicing work iscarried out the heater must be shut downand allowed to cool, and have the gas andelectric supplies to it turned off at the gascock and isolator respectively.CautionCertain component parts are factory sealedand are designed so as to be tamper proof.Usually such items do not require servicing, and therefore should not be tampered with.Failure to comply with this can invalidateany warranty, and can also lead topremature failure. The following parts fall within this category:room thermostat, time clock, frostthermostat, sequential controller, and fanand motor.Reference should be made to the separateinformation covering the operational detailsof the burner and timer.Only approved spare/replacement partscan be fitted, failure to comply with thiscan compromise the safe and efficientrunning of the heater, and can alsoinvalidate any warranty claim.5.1 Planned Servicing. In order to maintain the efficient operation ofthe heater it is recommended that thefollowing planned servicing and preventativemaintenance programme is adopted by theuser.Quarterly Inspection(a) Visual inspection of the burner.(b) Clean and check ionisation probes(c) Check overheat safety isoperational.Bi-Annual Inspection(a) As per quarterly inspection, plus...(b) Combustion check.Annual Inspection(a) As per half year inspection, plus.(b) Heat exchanger and cleaning.(c) Electrical connections.(d) Main fan motor.(e) Main fan assembly.(f) Pulleys.(g) Fan belts.(h) Gas supply.(i) Burner.(j) Air delivery system.(k) Flue.(l) Report.
