8All Harry Taylor Heaters are fitted with apressure relief facility, this is incorporatedinto the design of the flue gas exit duct.Care should therefore be taken in sitingservice connections and controls well awayfrom the pressure relief vent.WarningUnder no circumstances must the pressurerelief be restricted, blocked, or have the freeexit of exhaust gas impaired or re-directed.2.1 Gas supply - general. The Harry Taylor range of gas fired cabinetheaters are all manufactured and pre-set foruse with natural gas or LPG classified underthe categories, based upon the destinationof the heater see section 8.0The heater must be compatible with the gassupply, and each heater must be installedwith a separate approved isolating gas cockpositioned adjacent to and upstream of theunion between the service pipe and theheater. The gas supplier should have beencontacted to confirm that the supply feed(pipework and metering) is capable ofdelivering the required dynamic volume ofgas, thereby ensuring that the minimumburner pressure can be achieved.Consideration should have also been givento the pressure drop on single and multipleheater installations, and the affect that suchinstallations will have upon other plantsharing the gas supply. If it is necessary to fit a gas booster, thecontrols must include a low pressure cut-offswitch which must be fitted on the supplyside of the booster. It is also a requirementthat the gas supplier is contacted prior to thefitting of the unit.NoteReference to the Institute of Gas Engineerspublication UP-1 and UP-2 together withBS6891 is strongly advised.Service and Installation pipework must be ofa diameter equal to or greater than the inletconnection on the heater, all joints must besealed using an approved sealingcompound, and the system purged andtested for soundness.2.2 Electrical supplyWiring external to the cabinet heater mustbe installed in accordance with any local, national, and European regulations, as wellas meeting the appropriate requirements ofIEE regulations. The means of connection to the mainelectrical supply must allow for completeelectrical isolation of the heater, furthermore, in the case of a unit wired for athree phase supply, the supply should onlybe used to serve the heater itself and noother plant or equipment. The position of the isolation switch must besuch that it is adjacent to the heater andeasily accessible at all times. In addition, theisolator itself must have a contact separationof not less than 3mm as per BS5991 clause20.2. The Control Fuse ratings are detailedon the appliance data plate.Warning Ensure that the electric and gassupplies are turned off before any electricalwork is carried out on the heater. Ensurethat wiring cannot make contact with anysurfaces liable to be subject to hightemperatures or where the insulation of thewiring could be impaired as a result of suchcontact. All Cabinet Heaters must be earthed.CautionThe main electrical supply must not beswitched off or disconnected as a methodfor stopping the heater, the exception to thisis in an emergency, or during servicing, when the heat exchanger has been allowedto cool sufficiently to prevent any damagefrom occurring. Claims for damage will notbe considered if they have resulted fromincorrect wiring or the incorrect use of theheater.
