Specificattention is warranted to manage the impact of the steam plume normallyexperienced at the exhaust terminal of a condensing boiler. Generally, intake and exhaust pipes should terminate at a rooftop or sterile walllocation, to maximize customer satisfaction. Keep exhaust plumeswell away from all building air intakes including those of neighbouringproperties. All venting must be installed in accordance with the requirements of thejurisdiction having authority: in Canada, Part 8, Venting Systems of the B149.1-10 Code and any other local building codes are to be followed. In the USAthe National Fuel Gas Code, ANSI 223.1, latest edition, prevails. Where thereis a discrepancy between the installation instructions below, and the coderequirements, the more stringent shall apply.IMPORTANTWhen an existing boiler is removed from a common venting system, the commonventing system is likely to be too large for proper venting of the appliancesremaining connected to it.When resizing any portion of the common venting system, the common ventingsystem should be resized to approach the minimum size as determined using theappropriate tables in the National Fuel Gas Code, ANSI Z223.1 - latest edition. InCanada, use the B149.1-10 Installation Code.At the time of removal of an existing boiler the following steps shall be followedwith each appliance remaining connected to the common venting system placedin operation, while the other appliances remaining connected to the commonventing system are not in operation.• Seal any unused opening in the common venting system.• Visually inspect the venting system for proper size and horizontal pitch and1.4DANGERDo not common vent the VFCmodulating series boilerswith any other existing or newappliance.WARNINGExposed water piping andassociated components(relief valves, circulators, etc.)should not be in contact withcombustible materials. Checklocal codes for requiredclearances and/or provideadequate insulation.WARNINGDO NOT MOUNT THISBOILER TO HOLLOWWALL STRUCTURES - Thecombined weight of theboiler, its water contentsand associated pipingcomponents can exceed 225pounds. Fasteners must berated for this strain, and mustbe firmly anchored into solidmaterial that will support thisweight.Installers are to take allnecessary precautionsto avoid injury during theinstallation of this boiler.
