IntroductionThis Installation Guide contains instructions for setting up your IBM ® Eserver®xSeries ® 460 Type 8872 or MXE 460 Type 8874 server and basic instructions forinstalling some options. More detailed instructions for installing options are in theUser’s Guide on the IBM xSeries Documentation CD, which comes with the server.This document contains information about:v Setting up and cabling the serverv Starting and configuring the serverv Installing some optionsv Solving problemsThe xSeries MXE 460 server comes without a microprocessor or memory, but youcan install the components to make the MXE 460 server functionally identical to thexSeries 460 server. Use the MXE 460 server to interconnect with the xSeries 460server and create multi-node configurations using two, four, or eight nodes, for up to32-way operation.The server might have features that are not described in the documentation thatyou received with the server. The documentation might be updated occasionally toinclude information about those features, or technical updates might be available toprovide additional information that is not included in the server documentation.These updates are available from the IBM Web site.
