DIMMRetainingclip8. Insert the DIMM into the connector by aligning the edges of the DIMM with theslots at the ends of the DIMM connector. Firmly press one end of the DIMM intothe connector; then, press the other end into the connector. The retaining clipssnap into the locked position when the DIMM is seated in the connector. If thereis a gap between the DIMM and the retaining clips, the DIMM has not beencorrectly inserted; open the retaining clips, remove the DIMM, and then reinsertit.9. Repeat steps 5 on page 13 through 8 to install the second DIMM of the pair.Installing a memory cardYour server supports up to four memory cards. Each memory card must have atleast one pair of DIMMs installed before being installed in the server. You canhot-add one memory card to each of the memory power buses, provided youroperating system supports that function.At least one memory card with one pair of DIMMs must be installed in the server tooperate correctly.To install a memory card, complete the following steps:1. Read the safety information that begins on page v and “Installation guidelines”on page 7.2. Make sure that the locking lever on the edge of the memory card is fully open,and insert the memory card into an open memory-card connector on themicroprocessor board.3.
