– Baseboard management controller (BMC) settingsSelect this choice to view information and to change baseboard managementcontroller (BMC) settings.- BMC firmware VerThis is a nonselectable menu item that displays the BMC firmware version.- BMC POST WatchdogEnable or disable the BMC POST watchdog. Disable is the default setting.- BMC POST Watchdog TimeoutSet the BMC POST watchdog timeout value. 5 minutes is the defaultsetting.- System BMC Serial Port SharingEnable or disable the system BMC serial port sharing. Enable is the defaultsetting.- BMC Serial Port Access ModeShare or disable the BMC serial port access mode. Shared is the defaultsetting.- Reboot system on NMIIf you enable this option, the server automatically restarts 60 seconds afterthe service processor issues a nonmaskable interrupt (NMI) to the server. Ifyou disable this option, the server does not restart. Enable is the defaultsetting.- BMC Network ConfigurationSelect this choice to view the BMC Network Configuration information.- BMC System Event LogSelect this choice to view the BMC system event log, which contains allsystem error and warning messages that have been generated. Use thearrow keys to move between pages in the log. If an optional IBM RemoteSupervisor Adapter II SlimLine is installed, the full text of the errormessages is displayed; otherwise, the log contains only numeric errorcodes. Run the diagnostic program to get more information about errorcodes that occur. See the Problem Determination and Service Guide on theIBM System x Documentation CD for instructions. Select Clear error logsto clear the BMC system event log.v Error LogsSelect this choice to view or clear error logs.This choice is available on the full Configuration/Setup Utility menu only.– POST Error LogSelect this choice to view the three most recent error codes and messagesthat were generated during POST. Select Clear error logs to clear the POSTerror log.v Save SettingsSelect this choice to save the changes that you have made in the settings.v Restore SettingsSelect this choice to cancel the changes that you have made in the settings andrestore the previous settings.v Load Default SettingsSelect this choice to cancel the changes you have made in the settings andrestore the factory settings.v Exit SetupChapter 3.
