Verify that:a. All communication and power cables are pluggedinto the back of the expansion unit and an acpower outlet.b. All hard disk drives are locked securely in place.c. The tray number switches on the expansion unitare set correctly. (See “Setting the interfaceoptions” on page 76 for more information.)2. Check the system documentation for all the hardwaredevices you intend to turn on and determine theproper startup sequence.NoteBe sure to turn on the IBM Netfinity EXP500before or at the same time as the server.3. Turn on the power to each device, based on thestartup sequence.Attention:If you are restarting the system after a normalshutdown, wait at least 10 seconds before you turnon the power supply switches.4. Turn on both power supply switches on the back ofthe unit.The expansion unit might take a few seconds topower up. During this time, you might see the amberand green LEDs on the expansion unit turn on and offintermittently.
