Step 2. Unpacking the DriveFollow these steps when you unpack your drive.1. Do not open the antistatic bag until you are ready to install thedrive. Static electricity can damage the drive and other computercomponents.2. Touch your hand and the inner conductive surface of the antistaticbag containing the drive to an unpainted metal surface on thecomputer for two seconds. This drains static electricity from thebag and your body.3. Before handling the drive, ground yourself by touching anunpainted surface on the computer. Ground yourself again afterleaving and returning to your work area.4. Always handle the drive by its edges. Do not touch any exposedprinted circuitry, components or connector pins.5. While installing the drive, avoid all unnecessary handling. Roughhandling can damage the heads, rotating disks, and bearingsinside the drive housing.6. If you must put the drive down, place the antistatic bag on a flatpadded surface, such as a magazine, and place the drive on thebag with the component side facing up.7. Do not insert a Zip diskette when the drive power is off.Step 3. Setting the Configuration JumpersYou can configure your Zip IDE drive as Slave, Master, or CableSelect.Note: The Cable Select configuration does not apply to IBMcomputers.
