For instructions for recovering the UEFI firmware, see“Recovering the server firmware” on page 261. After you have recovered thefirmware in the primary bank, complete the following steps:1. Restart the server.2. When the prompt press F3 to restore to primary is displayed, press F3 torecover the primary bank. Pressing F3 will restart the server.Nx boot failureConfiguration changes, such as added devices or adapter firmware updates, andfirmware or application code problems can cause the server to fail POST (thepower-on self-test). If this occurs, the server responds in either of the followingways:v The server restarts automatically and attempts POST again.v The server hangs, and you must manually restart the server for the server toattempt POST again.After a specified number of consecutive attempts (automatic or manual), the Nxboot failure feature causes the server to revert to the default UEFI configurationand start the Setup utility so that you can make the necessary corrections to theconfiguration and restart the server. If the server is unable to successfully completePOST with the default configuration, there might be a problem with the systemboard.To specify the number of consecutive restart attempts that will trigger the Nx bootfailure feature, perform the following steps:1. In the Setup utility, click System Settings > Recovery > POST Attempts >POST Attempts Limit.2. The available options are 3, 6, 9, and 255 (disable Nx boot failure). Select youroption.Chapter 4.
