Replacing memoryThe computer has two connectors for installing dual inline memory modules thatprovide up to a maximum of 2 GB of system memory.When installing memory, the following rules apply:v Use 2.5 V, 184-pin, double data rate static random access memory (DDRSDRAM), non-ECC memory modules.v Use 128 MB, 256 MB, 512 MB, or 1 GB memory modules (when available) in anycombination.Note: Only DDR SDRAM memory moduless can be used.To replace memory modules:1. Turn off the computer and disconnect the power cord from the electrical outletand from the computer.2. Disconnect all other cables attached to the computer.3. Open the cover. See “Opening the cover” on page 25.4. Access the system board. See “Accessing system board components anddrives” on page 27.5. Locate the memory module connectors. See “Identifying parts on the systemboard” on page 28.6. Open the retaining clips to remove an existing memory module.7. Make sure the notch in the replacement memory module aligns with the tabon the connector. Push or insert the memory module straight down into theconnector until the retaining clips close.8.
