Updating the configurationFor most xSeries servers, the Configuration Setup Utility program automaticallyrecognizes the new tape drive. However, you might have to provide informationabout your the tape drive after you restart the server.Make sure that the correct advanced SCSI programming interface (ASPI) devicedrivers are installed to support the tape drive. Device drivers are usually providedwith the SCSI adapter.If the server does not recognize the tape drive after startup or if you receivestartup errors, run the Configuration Setup Utility program as described in theserver documentation.Installing backup and restore softwareThe tape drive is used for backing up and restoring data. Therefore, to use thedrive, you must use a backup and restore application.v If you are using your own software, follow the installation instructions thatcome with your software.v If you are using the native backup and restore function that your operatingsystem provides, and the operating system requests a device driver, insert theDocumentation CD and look in the device driver folder.
