No configuration is required for the IBM 4-Port GbEthernet Switch Module for BladeCenter to enable SOL.Note: You will not be able to perform this procedure if the values for the networkconfiguration of the IBM 4-Port Gb Ethernet Switch Module for BladeCenterare not within the same subnet as the BladeCenter management-modulenetwork interfaces (eth0 and eth1). See “Management-module configuration”on page 46 for information.1. Start the IBM 4-Port Gb Ethernet Switch Module for BladeCenter Web-basedinterface:a. Obtain the latest version of IBM 4-Port Gb Ethernet Switch Module forBladeCenter firmware from the IBM Support Web site,http://www.ibm.com/pc/support/.b. Start the Web-based management and configuration program (see “Startingthe management and configuration program in the management module” onpage 44).c. In the navigation pane, click I/O Module Tasks → Management.d. Scroll to the Current IP Configuration section and make sure that itcontains values that are within the same subnet as the BladeCentermanagement-module network interfaces (eth0 and eth1). If the values arenot in the same subnet, you must modify them before you continue. See“Management-module configuration” on page 46 for information.e. Scroll to the Bay 1 (Ethernet SM)* section; then, click AdvancedManagement.f. Scroll to the Start Telnet/Web Session section; then, click Start WebSession. This will start a new Web browser and connect to the IBM 4-PortGb Ethernet Switch Module for BladeCenter management-module Webinterface.g. Log in to the IBM 4-Port Gb Ethernet Switch Module for BladeCentermanagement-module Web interface. The default user name is USERID, andthe default password is PASSW0RD (note the number zero, not the letter O,in PASSW0RD).2. Update the IBM 4-Port Gb Ethernet Switch Module for BladeCenter firmware:a. Click Maintenance.b. Click Using Browser.c. Click Upgrade Firmware/Configuration.d. Click Browse; then, and select the firmware update file that you obtained instep 1a.e. Click Start; then, click Yes to confirm each time you are asked a question.f. Close the Web browser.3.
