WSB-9452 PICMG 1.0 CPU CardPage 230D.1 IntroductionD.1.1 RAID SupportThe Jmicron JMB363 chipset integrated controller in WSB-9452S and WSB-9452SDVImodels supports the following RAID configurations on the SATA3 and SATA4 connectors. JBOD RAID0 RAID1D.1.2 What is RAIDRAID, or redundant array of inexpensive disks, is a method of saving data on multipledisks so that if one of the disks is damaged or destroyed, the data on the disks is not lost.Only the three RAID levels listed above can be implemented on your system JBOD stands for Just a Bunch Of Disks. This is not a RAID level. If any thinghappens to one hard drive, all the information on that drive is lost. RAID0 refers to disk striping. Data is distributed (striped) over multiple disks. This increases the overall disk performance but the data is not redundantlystored and therefore any damage to the system disks will result in a loss ofinformation. RAID1 refers to disk mirroring. The information on one disk is completelymirrored onto a second disk. The effective storage capacity of the hard disksis halved but the data on the disks is safe. If one of the disks is destroyed ordamaged in any way the information on that disk is retrievable from thesecond disk.
