10Turning Off Your BarbecuePush the control knob (7) in and turn to the‘OFF’ position.Turn the gas off and disconnect at thecylinder when not in use.The regulator must be disconnected when thebarbecue is not in use. Wait until the barbecueis sufficiently cool before closing the hood.FOOD SAFETYPlease read and follow this advice whencooking on your barbecue:• Always wash your hands before and afterhandling uncooked meat and before eating.• Always keep raw meat away from cookedmeat and other foods.• Before cooking, ensure barbecue grillsurfaces and tools are clean and free ofold food residue.• Do not use the same utensils to handlecooked and uncooked foods.• Ensure all meat is cooked thoroughlybefore eating.CAUTION – eating raw or undercookedmeat can cause food poisoning(e.g bacteria strains such as E.coli)• To reduce the risk of undercooked meat,cut open to ensure it is cooked all the waythrough internally.CAUTION – if meat has been cookedsufficiently the meat juices should beclear in colour and there should beno traces of pink/red juice or meatcolouring.• Pre-cooking of larger meat or joints isrecommended before finally cooking onyour barbecue.• After cooking on your barbecue alwaysclean the grill cooking surfaces andutensils.CARE AND MAINTENANCE• Regularly clean your barbecue betweenuses and especially after extended periodsof storage.• Ensure the barbecue and its componentsare sufficiently cool before cleaning.• Do not leave the barbecue exposed tooutside weather conditions or stored indamp, moist areas.• Never douse the barbecue with waterwhen its surfaces are hot.• Never handle hot parts with unprotected hands.• In order to extend the life and maintainthe condition of your barbecue, westrongly recommend that the unit iscovered when left outside for any lengthof time, especially during the wintermonths.• IMPORTANT – We recommend thatservicing of this barbecue should beperformed either after every 100 hoursof use or annually, whichever is achievedsoonest.• Change the flexible tube when thenational conditions require it.CautionIf you smell gas – turn off the barbecue,extinguish all flames, open thebarbecue hood. If the odour continues,immediately contact your gas supplier.In the event of an uncontrollable fire,immediately disconnect the gas cylindermoving it away from fire and contact thefire services. DO NOT PUT YOURSELF ATRISK!Ensure aerosols are not used near thisbarbecue when in use.Ensure all packaging and plastic bagsare disposed of safely.Cooking Grill (3)• Clean with hot soapy water.• To remove any food residue, use a mildcream cleaner on a non-abrasive pad.• Rinse well and dry thoroughly.Burner (4) Maintenance• In normal usage, burning off the residueafter cooking will keep the burners clean.• The burners should be cleaned annually,or whenever heavy build-up is found, toensure that there are no signs of blockage(debris, insects) in either the burnerportholes or the venturi tubes of theburners fitted over the valve outlets. Ablocked burner can lead to a fire beneaththe grill.• Visually inspect the operation of theburners.See figure below showing correct burning.There should be flame from all portholes.
