3 AfiMilk MPC Installation Manual7 Milk Meter CalibrationAfimilk MPC is calibrated in the factory to ensure milk measurement results within therequired accuracy ranges. However, since installation environment may affect milkmeasurement accuracy, Afimilk MPC requires calibration at installation.Three calibration procedures are described in this chapter:1. Calibrating Electrodes2. Air intake compensation3. Accuracy adjustments(on farm calibration)7.1 Calibrating ElectrodesThree electrodes in the milk meterbody are the measuring probes of themeter. Although electrodes arecalibrated at the factory, cable andconnection resistance may affect theiraccuracy. Electrodes calibrationcompensates for resistance of the linesand therefore, it is necessary tocalibrate the milk meter afterinstallation.Electrodes calibration procedure isperformed with a 100Ω (±0.1%)resistor. During calibration, theresistor is connected betweenelectrodes to test and calibrate them.Afimilk offers a calibration tool for thetechnician incorporating the resistorand probes for hooking to theelectrodes (See below).7.1.1 Milk Meter Electrodes Calibration toolThe easy to use calibration tool is built of an encased resistorconnected to two socket connectors used for plugging on thecalibrated electrodes.
