192.16 Fit the chainNote: before doing the next section you will need to have set the boom length as described in section 2.13.Twist the right hand rear shifter to the “1” position so that the rear derailleur lines up with the largest rearsprocket. Twist the left hand front shifter to the “H” position so that the front derailleur lines up with thelargest front chainring. At the front of the trike, pull the top chain through thetop chain tube. Pass the chain through the frontderailleur cage, around the large chain ring and thenconnect it to the lower return chain at the front usingthe quick connect link. Remove the ‘R’ pin from the topchain.Move the chain through the tubes so that theunconnected end of the chain at the top at the back isthe longer one.TIP - make sure the chain is correctly routed through the rear derailleurcage and goes the correct side of the tab on the derailleur cage betweenthe two jockey wheels. At the back of the trike, checking that the chain is nottwisted inside the chain tube, (Twist it all the way inone direction then all the way in the other directionthen bring it back to the middle.) thread the top chaindown over the largest cog of the cassette and throughthe derailleur. Now set the chain to length by removing a section ofchain from between the rear derailleur and the lowerchain tube. Work out how much chain to remove bytaking the end of the chain from the rear derailleur andpulling it tight so that the cage of the derailleur is undermaximum tension.
