3IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS AND PRECAUTIONSPower Cord ProtectionTo avoid any malfunctions of thesystem controller or subwoofer, andto protect against electric shock, fireor personal injury, please observe thefollowing:• Hold the plug firmly when connect-ing or disconnecting the AC powercord.• Keep the AC power cord away fromheating appliances.• Never put any heavy object on theAC power cord.• Do not attempt to repair or modifythe AC power cords in any way.Location and Handling• The apparatus shall not be exposedto dripping or splashing and noobjects filled with liquids, such asvases, shall be placed on theapparatus.• Air vents are provided in the cabinetto prevent excessive temperaturesinside the unit. Do not place this unitin closed spaces, cover it, or other-wise block the vents.• Do not place this unit in direct sun-light or near heat sources.• Keep this unit away from strongmagnetic objects.• Do not insert or drop anything intothis unit through the air vents as thiscould cause serious damage, pos-sibly resulting in fire.• Do not place any object containingwater or other liquids near thecontroller. In the event that liquidshould enter the cabinet, unplug theunit immediately and contact yourauthorized JBL dealer immediately.• Do not remove the cabinet.Touching parts inside the cabinetcould result in electric shock and /or damage to the unit.• Do not use the unit in a car.The operation cannot be guaran-teed.Non-Use Periods• When the controller is not beingused, turn it off.• When left unused for a long periodof time, the controller andsubwoofer should be unpluggedfrom the household AC outlet.Foreign Objects InsideDo not put any foreign object on thedisc tray.StackingPlace the controller in a horizontalposition and do not place any objecton it.CondensationMoisture may form on the pickup lensin the following conditions:• Immediately after a heater has beenturned on.• In a steamy or very humid room.• When the unit is suddenly movedfrom a cold environment to a warmone.If moisture forms inside this unit, itmay not operate properly. In thiscase, turn on the power and waitabout one hour for the moisture toevaporate.On Adjusting VolumeDo not turn up the volume whilelistening to a passage with very lowlevel or no audio signals. If you do,the speakers may be damaged whena peak level portion is played.
