NEW CONSTRUCTIONPAINTING THE SPEAKERFRAME AND GRILLESoundPoint Series loud-speak-ers can be painted to matchany decor. If you wish tochange their color, the satinfinish on the grille and framewill function as a primer coat.Before painting, install the paintshield (inner section of tem-plate in the assembly kit)securely into the recess in thebaffle. This will protect thespeaker components and bafflefrom paint residue. Use a high-quality spray paint, and apply athin coat of color.Be certain the grille per-forations remain free of paint.Filling them with paint willdiminish the sound quality.Note: Gently remove theacoustical foam blanket fromthe grille before painting.Reattach the blanket after thepaint has dried.You will need to purchase the correct rough-in frame kit for your model:Speaker Model Rough-In Frame KitSP5 RIF5SP6 RIF6SP6C RIF6CSP6CS RIF6CSSP8 RIF8SP8CRIF8CDetailed installation instructions are supplied with the rough-in kit.TROUBLESHOOTINGIF THERE IS NO SOUNDFROM ANY OF THESPEAKERS:• Check that receiver/amplifieris on and a source is playing.• Check all wires and connec-tions between receiver/ampli-fier and speakers. Make sureall wires are connected. Makesure none of the speaker wiresare frayed, cut, punctured ortouching each other.• Review proper operation ofyour receiver/amplifier.IF THERE IS NO SOUNDCOMING FROM ONESPEAKER:• Check the “Balance” controlon your receiver/amplifier.• Check all wires and connec-tions between receiver/ampli-fier and speakers. Make sureall wires are connected. Makesure none of the speaker wiresare frayed, cut, punctured ortouching each other.IF THERE IS LOW (ORNO) BASS OUTPUT:• Make sure the connectionsto the left and right “SpeakerInputs” have the correct polar-ity (+ and –).• Consider adding a poweredsubwoofer to your system.• In Dolby Digital or DTS modes,make sure your receiver/processor is correctly config-ured. When using a subwoofer,make sure the subwooferoutput of the receiver/proces-sor has been enabled. If nosubwoofer is being used, makesure the left and right front andrear speakers have been con-figured as “LARGE.” See yourreceiver/processor’s owner’smanual for futher informationon correct speaker configura-tion in Dolby Digital, DTS andother surround sound modes.IF THE SYSTEM PLAYSAT LOW VOLUMES BUTSHUTS OFFAS VOLUME ISINCREASED:• Check all wires and connec-tions between receiver/ampli-fier and speakers.
