23Operating ControlsStart/Stop SwitchThe switch shown in Figure 30 is used on modelJBWS-18QT band saw.Press the green on button (A, Fig. 4) to start.Press the red safety switch off button (B, Fig. 4)to stop.Figure 30 – Start/Stop SwitchThe switch shown in Figure 31 is a magneticswitch used on the JBWS-18QT-3 and allJBWS-20QT model band saws.Power Indicator Light – The start switch has apower indicator lamp which is on wheneverthere is power connected to the band saw, notjust when the band saw is running. Do notassume that no light means there is no power tothe machine. If the bulb is bad, there will noindication. Always check before use.Do not rely that no lightmeans no power to the machine. Alwayscheck for power first. Failure to comply maycause serious injury!To operate the magnetic Start/Stop switch(referring also to Figure 31):Start – Press the green start switch.When power is connected to the machine, thegreen light is always on regardless of whetherthe band saw is running or not.Stop – Press the red switch to stop.Reset – In the event that the band saw stopswithout pressing the stop button, as the result ofa tripped fuse or circuit breaker, etc.:1. Press red button to reset2. Press the green button to restart themachine.Safety Key – The magnetic Start/Stop switchcomes equipped with a magnetic safety key.When in position on the switch as shown inFigure 31, the magnetic safety key trips a relaywhich will allow the machine to start and stopwhen the respective switches are pressed.Being magnetic, the safety key can be removedto make the machine inoperable and can behidden for safe storage by attaching itunderneath the rail or another magnetic surface.When using a saw equipped with this switch,place the safety key on the switch cover, liningup the arrow on the key with the REMOVE arrowon the cover. Then rotate the key so the arrowlines up with the LOCK arrow. This will preventthe safety key from coming loose from vibrationwhen the machine is in use.Figure 31 – Magnetic Start/Stop SwitchBrake Pedal (JWBS-20QT only)Press the brake pedal (A, Fig. 32) while the sawis running to stop the saw.
