Connection and Startup14Connection and StartupThe following section is specifically intended for the specialist dealer.You only need to read this section if you are carrying out theinstallation yourself.You will find sample configurations in the section "Connectionexamples".First carry out all installation work before connecting the receiver tothe mains power supply. Refer to the information provided in thesection on "Safety“.To connect the receiverAntenna connectionDVB-T television was developed to provide a good TV picturewherever an adequate signal can be received. "Ghost or doubleimages" are no longer a problem.Connect the receiver either to your conventional individual orcommunal antenna that receives all VHF/UHF signals or use a DVB-Tantenna specially developed by Kathrein for direct home reception.Even DVB-T TV cannot work miracles – you must have a goodreception signal. Problems may arise in concrete buildings if you areonly using a room antenna.Presetting of reception antennaIf you use or have to use an active antenna, i.e. an antenna withpreamplifier, it is possible to supply power to this antenna via theantenna input in the receiver. The default is set to "OFF" to ensure nodamage can occur. Make sure you use an antenna that is designedfor a supply voltage of 5 V (see page 16).TV connectionUse a SCART cable to connect the receiver (TV SCART) and TV set.If your TV set is equipped for stereo output, you can receive the soundin stereo via the SCART connection.Audio connectionIf you wish to reproduce the sound via a HiFi system, connect acorresponding Cinch cable from the audio Cinch jacks and the inputsockets on your HiFi system.Dolby connectionThe Dolby digital data output (AC3) is provided solely for connectionto a Dolby digital sound system.Inserting batteries in the remote controlRemove the cover on the battery compartment on the underside of theremote control.Insert the two supplied batteries in the remote control. Ensure correctpolarity of the batteries, the + and – markings are indicated inside thebattery compartment.Slide the cover back into the casing and lock in position.Used batteries are special waste!Therefore do not throw batteries into the household waste but ratherdeposit them at a collection depot for old batteries!
