26 | Quick Start GuideInstalling the GPS Antenna Installing the Push-To-TalkSwitch and the MicrophoneUnitGPS antenna is installed inside of the car. Itshould be installed as horizontally as possibleto allow easy reception of the GPS satellitesignals.To mount the GPS antenna inside yourvehicle:1. Clean your dashboard or other surface.2. Peel the backing off of the adhesive on thebottom of the metal plate (accessory @).3. Press the metal plate (accessory @)down firmly on your dashboard or othermounting surface. You can bend themetal plate (accessory @) to conform to acurved surface, if necessary.4. Place the GPS antenna (accessory !) ontop of the metal plate (accessory @).Accessory !Accessory @¤• Depending on the type of car, reception of theGPS satellite signals might not be possible with aninside installation.• The GPS antenna should be installed at a positionthat is spaced at least 12 inch (30 cm) from cellularphone or other transmitting antennas. Signalsfrom the GPS satellite may be interfered with bythese types of communication.• Painting the GPS antenna with (metallic) paintmay cause a drop in performance.1. Check the installation position of themicrophone (accessory #) and the Push-To-Talk switch (accessory $).2. Remove oil and other dirt from theinstallation surface.3. Install the microphone.4. Wire the microphone cable up to the unitwith it secured at several positions usingtape or the like.Fix a cable with a commercial item oftape.Peel the release coated paper of double-faceadhesive tape to fix on the place shown above.Adjust the direction of the microphone to thedriver.Accessory #Accessory $Install the microphone as far away aspossible from the cell-phone.⁄
