(page 3)¤Warning■■ The unit can only be installed in a car with a12 V DC power supply, negative ground.■■ If you connect the ignition wire (red) andthe battery wire (yellow) to the car chassis(ground), you may cause a short circuit,that in turn may start a fire. Always connectthose wires to the power source runningthrough the fuse box.■■ Disconnect the battery’s negative terminaland make all electrical connections beforeinstalling the unit.■■ Insulate unconnected wires with vinyl tapeor other similar material. To prevent a shortcircuit, do not remove the caps on the endsof the unconnected wires or the terminals.■■ Be sure to ground this unit to the car’schassis again after mounting.■■ If the power is not turned ON (“PROTECT”is displayed), the speaker wire may have ashort-circuit or touched the chassis of thevehicle and the protection function mayhave been activated. Therefore, the speakerwire should be checked.¤Caution■■ If your car’s ignition key switch does nothave an ACC position, connect the ignitionwires to a power source that can be turnedon and off with the ignition key. If youconnect the ignition wires to a constant-voltage power source, as with battery wires,the battery may die.■■ Do not use your own screws. Use only thescrews provided.■■ Install this unit in the console of yourvehicle. Make sure the faceplate will not hitthe lid of the console (if any) when closingand opening.■■ After the installing the unit, check whetherthe brake lamps, blinkers, wipers, etc. on thecar are working properly.■■ Mount the unit so that the mounting angleis 30° or less.■■ If the fuse blows, first make sure the wiresare not touching other parts to cause ashort circuit, and then replace the old fusewith one with a new the same rating.■■ Connect the speaker wires correctly to thecorresponding terminals. The unit may bedamaged or fail to work if you share the ·wires or ground them to any metal part inthe car.■■ When only two speakers are beingconnected to the system, connect theconnectors either to both the front outputterminals or to both the rear outputterminals (do not mix front and rear).■■ Mounting and wiring this product requiresskills and experience. For safety’s sake, leavethis work to professionals.If you experience problems duringinstallation, consult your Kenwood dealer.■■ Reception may become poor if there aremetal objects near the Bluetooth antenna.Bluetooth antenna unitPARiPodVOICEFor Good ReceptionTo assure good reception, note the following:■■ Communicate with the cell-phone withinthe line-of-sight distance of 10 m (30ft). The communication range becomesshorter depending on the surroundingenvironment. The communicationrange also becomes shorter when thereis an obstacle between this unit andthe cell-phone. The above maximumcommunication range (10 m) is not alwaysassured.■■ A broadcast station or walkie-talkie locatednearby can interfere with communicationdue to a too strong signal.¤ CAUTIONInstall this unit in the console of yourvehicle.Do not touch the metal part of this unitduring and shortly after the use of theunit. Metal part such as the heat sink andenclosure become hot.
