RDS features (See page 6)English— 12 —RD S (Radio D at a Syst em )RDS is a digital information system that lets you receive sig-nals besides those of regular radio programmes, such as net-w ork information being transmitted from radio stations.When listening to an RDS station (ie, a station w ith RDS capa-bility), the programme service name of the station is displayedalong w ith the frequency, advising you quickly w hich stationis being received.RDS (Radio Data System) stations also transmit frequencydata for the same station. When you are making long trips,this function automatically sw itches to the particular frequen-cy w ith the best reception for the particular netw ork of sta-tions that you w ant to listen to. The data is automaticallystored, allow ing you to sw itch quickly to another RDS sta-tions, broadcasting the same programme, that has betterreception. These include stations stored in the station presetmemory that you often listen to.A larmWhen an emergency transmission (announcing disasters, etc.)is sent, all current functions are interrupted to allow the w arn-ing to be received.EON (Enhanced Ot her N et w ork )Stations that offer EON also transmit information about otherRDS stations that have traffic information. When you aretuned to a station that is not transmitting traffic information,but another RDS station starts transmitting a traffic bulletin,the tuner automatically sw itches to the other station for theduration of the bulletin.The EON indicator lights up w hen the RDS station currentlybeing listened to starts to broadcast EON frequency data.A F (A lt ernat ive Frequency) Funct ionWhen poor reception is experienced, automatically sw itch toanother frequency broadcasting the same programme in thesame RDS netw ork w ith better reception.The AF indicator lights up w hen the AF function is turned on.Turning AF Function On/ Off:Hold dow n the M ENU button for one second or more."M ENU" is displayed and the menu mode is turned on.Press the ¢ button repeatedly until the AF function appearsin the display.Press the 4 button to search in the other direction.The function setting is indicated by "AF ON" or "AF OFF" in thedisplay, indicating that the AF function is on or off, respective-ly.Sw itching settingsPress either the AM button or FM button.The display and setting w ill change.Press the M ENU button to end the menu mode.Displaying Frequencies:Hold dow n the CLK button for one second or more.The frequency for the RDS station w ill be displayed for fiveseconds instead of the station name.When no other stations w ith stronger reception are available forthe same programme in the RDS netw ork, you may hear theincoming broadcast in bits and snatches.
