Safety precautions— 3 —To prevent injury and/ or fire, take thefollow ing precautions:• Insert the unit all the w ay until it is fullylocked in place. Otherw ise it may fly out ofplace during collisions and other jolts.• When extending the ignition, battery orground cables, make sure to use automotive-grade cables or other cables w ith an area of0.75mm2 (AWG18) or more to prevent cabledeterioration and damage to the cable coat-ing.• To prevent short circuits, never put or leaveany metallic objects (e.g., coins or metaltools) inside the unit.• If the unit starts to emit smoke or strangesmells, turn off the pow er immediately andconsult your Kenw ood dealer.• Be careful not to drop the unit or subject it tostrong shock.The unit may break or crack because it con-tains glass parts.• Do not touch the liquid crystal fluid if the LCDis damaged or broken due to shock. The liq-uid crystal fluid may be dangerous to yourhealth or even fatal.If the liquid crystal fluid from the LCD con-tacts your body or clothing, w ash it off w ithsoap immediately.2WA RN IN GTo prevent damage to the machine,take the follow ing precautions:• M ake sure to ground the unit to a negative12V DC pow er supply.• Do not open the top or bottom covers of theunit.• Do not install the unit in a spot exposed todirect sunlight or excessive heat or humidity.Also avoid places w ith too much dust or thepossibility of w ater splashing.• Do not set the removed faceplate or the face-plate case in areas exposed to direct sunlight,excessive heat or humidity. Also avoid placesw ith too much dust or the possibility of w atersplashing.• Do not subject the faceplate to excessiveshock, as it is a piece of precision equipment.• To prevent deterioration, do not touch theterminals of the unit or faceplate w ith yourfingers.• When replacing a fuse, only use a new onew ith the prescribed rating. Using a fuse w iththe w rong rating may cause your unit to mal-function.• To prevent short circuits w hen replacing afuse, first disconnect the w iring harness.• During installation, do not use any screw sexcept for the ones provided. The use ofimproper screw s might result in damage tothe main unit.2CA U TION IM PORTANT INFORM ATIONYou cannot connect the unit directly to thefollow ing CD automatic changers.
