37TROUBLESHOOTINGThe problems described in this table are commonly encountered operationalmalfunctions and are usually not caused by circuit failure.Problem Probable Cause Corrective ActionNothing appears onthe display when thetransceiver is switchedON, or the display isblinking ON and OFF.1 The battery pack isdischarged.2 The DC cable orconnection is bad.3 The power supplyfuse is open (blown).1 Recharge the battery packor replace the battery.2 Replace the cable.3 Investigate the cause forthe open fuse and replacethe fuse.Most keys and theTuning control do notfunction.1 One of the Lockfunctions is ON.2 The transceiver isin Channel Displaymode.1 Unlock all of the Lockfunctions.2 With the transceiverpower OFF, press [PTT] +[A/B] + Power ON to exitChannel Display mode.You cannot select theexact desired frequencyusing the Tuning control.Programmable VFOfrequency range is toonarrow.Expand the frequency rangein Menu No. 130 (Prog.VFO).Memory channelscannot be selectedby turning the Tuningcontrol or by pressing[ ]/[ ].No data has been storedin any Memory channel.Store data in some Memorychannels.The receiving soundvolume is weak even ifthe signal is strong.The receiving stationmay be operatingin narrow band FMbandwidth.Access Menu No. 131(Modulation) to select “NFM”.Turning the VOL controldoes not allow you tohear audio.The selective callfunction (CTCSS orDCS) is ON.Turn OFF the selective callfunction.
