The 1.85 mm connector is designed such that it may be mated with 2.4 mmconnectors. The 85058B (Standard) is the more accurate of the two calibration kits, containing twelvecalibration standards. The 85058E (Economy) kit is less accurate, containing six calibrationstandards. The standards in these calibration kits allow you to perform simple 1- or 2-port and TRM(thru-reflect-match) calibrations. Two Models for Defining Calibration StandardsThe 85058 family of calibration kits offers the following two models for defining calibrationstandards:• Data-based model❏ PNA: 85058B and 85058E• Polynomial model❏ PNA: 85058BP and the 85058EPThe PNA family of analyzers offers both the data-based models and the polynomial models ascal kit selections.Data-Based ModelThe data-based model (85058B or 85058E) of each calibration kit provides higher accuracy fordescribing calibration standards than the polynomial model (85058BP or 85058EP). Thedata-based nominal S-Parameter model for each calibration standard is generated by using atheoretical derivation or a high accuracy S-Parameter measurement. These nominalS-parameter models are stored as part of the data-based model. Errors that can be the result ofpolynomial model approximations do not exist. The data-based models may only be used with the SmartCal (Guided) Calibration method ofthe Cal Wizard. Using the data-based models with the Unguided Calibration method of the CalWizard is not allowed. The data-based models may NOT be edited with the Advanced Modify Cal Kit dialog box.Attempts to programmatically edit the definitions of the data-based-model calibration standardswill result in reported errors (i.e. SCPI Execution Error). In the PNA’s Modify Calibration Class Assignments dialog box1, the “Expanded Math” feature isturned ON by default when the 85058B data-based model is selected from a cal kit menu. Inorder to achieve a more accurate calibration, Expanded Math uses the data at any given1.
