Keysight M9037A PXIe Embedded Controller User Guide 49Things to not do Using the ControllerTo avoid leaving Windows in an unknown state, the front panel ON button can beused with the rear panel Inhibit signal. In this situation, however, the chassispower is no longer completely controlled remotely, and local interaction isrequired. If the chassis and M9037A are powered up, momentarily pressing the ON buttoncauses an orderly shutdown of the M9037A, but the chassis remains poweredand the M9037A System Status LED HS (Blue) remains on. At this point, youhave two options:- Momentarily press the ON button again to turn on the M9037A and bring upWindows.- Complete the power down process by grounding the Inhibit signal (pin 5 ofthe rear panel DB-9 connector). If the chassis and M9037A are powered up, pressing the chassis ON button forgreater than 5 seconds causes a forced shut down of Windows but, as before, thechassis will not be powered off. At this point, you have the same two optionslisted in the previous paragraph. However, Windows safe mode may be displayedbecause of the forced shut down of Windows.Things to not doAs with any PC, there are several system-level settings and files that you shouldnot change, move, or delete as this could cause a number of difficulties.Windows RegistryDo not manually make any changes to the registry unless you know exactly whatyou are doing. Making changes to the registry could affect the controller’s abilityto boot-up, execute programs, and display desired information.Application SoftwareDo not remove files under the C:\Program Files folder by any means other thanusing the Add or Remove Programs utility found on the Control Panel. Do notremove any software application that was preinstalled by Keysight, even usingthe Add or Remove Program Utility, unless you are instructed by Keysight to doso while performing an update.SSD DriveDo not repartition the Solid State Drive (SSD) drive or rename any of the existingpartitions. Doing so could cause the controller to either not have the disk spacerequired or not be able to find needed data.
