26 N5511A Phase Noise Test System User’s GuideIntroductionPowering the System OnPowering the System OnConnect your system to an appropriate AC power source using the power cordprovided.The N5511A system is shipped with an AC power cord appropriate for yourlocation.The N5511A Benchtop system consists of an N5511A Phase Noise Test Systemwith one or two test sets installed. You must connect a monitor, keyboard, andmouse before powering on the system.Press the system power switch.Figure 2-2 Power on the N5511A SystemTo power on a racked system1. Press the system power switch (front, top right of the rack) to the onposition.2. Verify that all instrument power switches are on.3. Allow the system to warm up for 30 minutes.Before applying power, make sure the AC power input and the location of the system meet therequirements given in the Getting Started guide for your system. Failure to do so may result indamage to the system or personal injury.Warm-up Time: The downconverter and RF source instruments contain ovenized oscillatorswhich must warm up for 30 minutes to produce accurate measurements.Standby Mode: The RF source uses a standby mode to keep the ovenized oscillator warm whenthe instrument is connected (plugged in) to AC power, even when the power switch is in the offposition. To completely shut down the instrument, you must disconnect it from the AC powersupply.
