Turn off system power, but leave thesystem computer turned on.If you do plan to turn computer power off forany reason, have the computer systemadministrator:Shut down all running software.Shut down the computer.2. Read “General Procedures andTechniques”, then disconnect allcables on the front and on the rearpanel.Most cables are fairly easy to remove andreconnect, and have no specialconsiderations (besides making sure youput the cables back in the right place).Semirigid cables require more care,especially when reconnecting them. Makesure all semirigid cables, on the front andback of an instrument are fully disconnectedbefore removing the unit.3. When all cables are disconnected(including the power cord), remove thescrews in the instrument’s rack “ears”that hold it in the rack.4. Slide the instrument out. If you feel any resistance when attemptingto pull the instrument out, STOP! Lookinside the cabinet and carefully examine allsurrounding cables. Make sure all cablesare fully disconnected.
