Operating the Power System 4Keysight N6700 User’s Guide 91External Data LoggingNOTE The external data log function is only available on mainframes with firmwarerevision D.01.09 and up. It cannot be programmed from the front panel. The power system has an external data logger (ELOG) function that letsyou log voltage and current measurements from all four outputs directlyto an internal FIFO (first-in, first-out) buffer. Note that this buffer is onlylarge enough to hold about 20 seconds of accumulated measurements. The following table lists this, along with some other restrictions thatapply to the external data logger.Function External Data LoggerData viewing No front panel view or front panel control. Data must be exported to aspreadsheet.Data storage Buffers measurements for about 20 seconds and requires that the computerperiodically reads measurements to prevent the internal buffer fromoverflowing. The computer needs to provide the data storage function.MeasurementresourcesRun independently on each output. Some outputs can be running an externaldata log, while the remaining outputs can be used in front panel control or usedfor other SCPI functions.MeasurementfunctionsIf a power module has only one measurement converter, then either voltage orcurrent, but not both, can be logged.Logging rate Up to 102.4 microseconds for one parameter with data format set to real.Briefly, to make external data log measurements: Select the measurement functions and ranges. Specify the measurement integration period. Select the trigger source. Trigger the data logger. Retrieve the data log measurement. The external data logger function cannot be programmed from the frontpanel.Select the Measurement Functions and RangesThe following commands select a measurement function:Front Panel: SCPI Command:Not Available To enable voltage or current measurements:SENS:ELOG:FUNC:VOLT ON,(@1)SENS:ELOG:FUNC:CURR ON,(@1)To enable min/max measurements:SENS:ELOG:FUNC:VOLT:MINM ON,(@1)SENS:ELOG:FUNC:CURR:MINM ON,(@1)
