Introduction 1Keysight U1273A/U1273AX User’s Guide 27OLED Auto Dim functionYour multimeter’s OLED automatically dims if the rotary switch is not moved or akey is not pressed for 90 seconds (default). This auto dim behavior is enabled bydefault. Pressing any key or changing the rotary switch position will cancel thiseffect and reset the auto dim timer.To disable the auto dim, refer to “Changing the OLED behavior” on page 139.Increase the OLED brightnessIf viewing the display becomes difficult in low-light conditions, press tochange the OLED brightness.The LOW, MEDIUM, or HIGH setting must be selected in the multimeter’s setup(browse to Menu 3 > BACKLIT) prior to this action.Pressing repeatedly will increase the OLED brightness from low to medium tohigh (and back to low again).You are advised to select an suitable brightness level based on your needs toconserve battery life if you wish to control the OLED brightness level manually.Select the rangeThe multimeter’s selected range is always displayed above the right-hand end ofthe bar graph, as the range indicator. Pressing switches the multimeterbetween manual and auto-ranging. It also cycles through the availablemultimeter ranges when manual ranging is enabled.Auto-ranging is convenient because the multimeter automatically selects anappropriate range for sensing and displaying each measurement. However,manual ranging results in better performance, because the multimeter does nothave to determine which range to use for each measurement.NOTE The auto dim function is enabled by default.
