Close the fuel supply valve to the heater anddisconnect the electrical supply before servicingunless necessary for your service procedure.2. Clean the heater’s orifice with compressed air ora soft, dry rag. Do not use files, drills, broaches,etc. to clean the orifice hole. Doing so will enlargethe hole, causing combustion or ignition problems.Replace the orifice if it cannot be cleaned properly.3. The high limit switches, heat/vent switch and ther-mostat can be tested by disconnecting the leads atthe component and jumpering the leads together.-- Reconnect the electrical supply and open fuelsupply valves.-- If the heater lights, the component is defective andmust be replaced.-- Do not leave the jumper on or operate the heater ifthe part is defective. Replace the part immediately.-- An alternate method for checking the componentsis to perform a continuity check..4. The air proving switch must not be jumpered. Ifjumpered, the ignition control will not allow heateroperation. Test the air proving switch for continuity.If defective, replace the switchWARNINGBurn Hazard■ Heater surfaces are hot for a period of time afterthe heater has been shut down.■ Allow the heater to cool before performingservice, maintenance, or cleaning.■ Failure to follow this warning will result in burnscausing injury.WARNINGFire and Explosion Hazard■ Do not disassemble or attempt to repair anyheater components or gas train componentssuch as gas valves, or gas hoses.■ All component parts must be replaced if defectsare found.■ Failure to follow this warning will result in fire orexplosions, causing property damage, injury, ordeath.5. Open the respective case panel for access toburner or fan related components.6. For reassembly, reverse the respective serviceprocedure. Ensure gas connections are tightenedsecurely.7. After servicing, start the heater to ensure properoperation and check for gas leaks.8. If pulley or fan keys are lost during service, re-placements are made by using 3/16 in. (4.7 mm.)square x 1 in. (2.54 cm) bar stock. Otherwise,order Part #22955.Belt Replacement1. Remove the belt guard from the heater.See Fig. 15.2. Rotate the fan pulley CW while carefully lifting thebelt so it clears the fan pulley groove. See Fig.16.3. Check the fan and motor pulleys for dirt. Cleanthe pulleys if needed.4. When reinstalling the belt, ensure the arrows aredirected CCW. See Fig. 17.FIG. 15
