Computers with or without LaCie Safe Manager may lock thedrive by ejecting (Windows) or unmounting (Mac) the partition:✦ Windows users may eject the device. Right-click on the driveicon in My Computer (Windows XP) or Computer (WindowsVista and Windows 7) and select Eject. The drive icon willdisappear and the LED will blink red, indicating the device islocked.IMPORTANT INFO: Using the Eject icon in the Windows systemtray may not lock the Rugged Safe. LaCie recommends ejecting thedevice as noted above.✦ Mac users should unmount the drive (see 3.5. DisconnectingYour Hard Drive). Once the partition has disappeared, swipea registered finger. The drive icon will disappear and the LEDwill blink red, indicating the device is locked.IMPORTANT INFO: Mac users will generate a Device Removalerror when swiping a registered finger before unmounting the de-vice. It is best to unmount the drive before locking it.2. For computers that are running LaCie Safe Manager:✦ Click on the icon in the menu bar (Mac) or right-click the iconin the system tray (Windows).
