The tractor and mower could flipover causing damage to the equipment, bodily injury or death.! DANGEROperate mower with all guards installed & in good condition.Gearbox and driveline shields must be secured in place whenoperating mower to avoid injury or death from entanglementin rotating drivelines. Keep away from moving parts.! WARNINGThe following operating procedures must be carefully readand fully understood. You are the tractor operator and aretherefore responsible for the safe operation of this unit. Allother persons must be cleared of the area. Mower operationmust be stopped when in the vicinity of other persons.! CAUTIONAlways disengage tractor PTO before raising the GroomingMower decks to transport position to avoid damaging thepower train, injury from thrown objects or blade contact.! CAUTIONWhen mowing in sandy soil areas, wear may occur to yourmower blades caused from sand erosion. Frequent inspectionshould be made and blades replaced if damaged.IMPORTANT:• Do not engage PTO with mower decks in theraised position or with engine speed above idle.Doing so will damage power train components.• Do not exceed rated PTO speed of mower.Excessive engine speed will cause damage topower train components.• Avoid catching hydraulic hoses on brush, post, stumps, and other protrusions.• Use mower to cut only turf grasses. Cutting othermaterials can damage drive components, cuttingblades and deck.• Only use the Grooming Mower for its intendedpurpose. Do not use it to pull, push or lift objects.Do not use it as a working platform or as a wagonto carry objects.1. After attaching the tractor to the mower, carefullycheck all hoses and wires to be sure they will notcontact the PTO driveline.2. Check PTO guards to make sure they are in goodcondition and in place.3. Inspect hydraulic hoses for wear, damage andhydraulic leaks. See “Avoid High Pressure FluidsHazard” on page 3 Replace damaged and wornhoses with genuine Land Pride parts.4. Check the following after the PTO has beendisengaged and comes to a complete stop.• Check mower blades for sharpness.• Make sure bolts and nuts are tight.• Check tractor safety equipment. Be sure they are ingood working condition.5. Unfold mower decks as follows:AFM4216 Model OnlyRefer to Figure 2-3 on page 18:a. Remove wing deck floating pins.AFM4214 & AFM4216 ModelsRefer to Figure 2-2 on page 17:b. Retract hydraulic cylinders to remove weight fromtransport locks.c. Pull transport lock rope toward the tractor todisengage locks.d. Hold locks in this position until all 3 mower deckshave unfolded enough to allow lock lugs tobecome fully disengaged.e. Extend all 3 cylinders to their maximum stroke formaximum field float of mower decks.6. Set the tractor throttle at idle. Engage the PTO tostart blades rotating.7. Begin mowing at a slow forward speed and shift upuntil desired speed is achieved - maintaining 540PTO rpm. Mower blades will cut better at540 PTO blade speed than at reduced throttle.8. After mowing the first 50 feet, stop and check to seethat mower is adjusted properly.9. Grass is best cut when it is dry. Mowing wet grasscan cause plugging resulting in grass clumps behindthe mower.10. Grass should be mowed frequently as shorterclippings deteriorate faster.11. Mow areas with extremely tall grass twice. Raisemower high for the first cutting and then set mower atfinished cutting height for the second cutting.IMPORTANT:• Make sure transport locks are unlatched beforeunfolding mower. Pull on rope to unlatch locks.• When unfolding mower, fully extend cylinders toutilize maximum flexibility. Damage to the mowermay occur if the cylinders are not fully extended.
