11CAUTION:• The workpiece with the following dimensions cannot be fed into the tool because the interval between two feed roll-ers is 129 mm. Do not try to cut them. (Fig. 23)• Stop the tool when the workpiece has stalled. Allowing the tool to run with a stalled workpiece causes rapid wearingof the feed rollers.MAINTENANCECAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off andunplugged before attempting to perform inspection ormaintenance.Adjusting height of sub-table (Fig. 24 & 25)The height of sub-table is factory-adjusted. If furtheradjustment is necessary, proceed as follows.Place a postcard on the table and also place a ruler onthe postcard. Turn the adjusting screw with the hexwrench until the end of the sub-table contacts the ruler.Now the end of the sub-table is from 0.1 mm to 0.3 mmabove the table surface.Replacing carbon brushes (Fig. 26 & 27)Remove and check the carbon brushes regularly.Replace when they wear down to the limit mark. Keepthe carbon brushes clean and free to slip in the holders.Both carbon brushes should be replaced at the sametime. Use only identical carbon brushes.Use a screwdriver to remove the brush holder caps. Takeout the worn carbon brushes, insert the new ones andsecure the brush holder caps.Keeping blades sharpDull blades can cause rough finish, an overload of themotor and dangerous kickback of the workpiece.Replace dull blades immediately.Lubrication (Fig. 28)Oil the chain (after removing the side cover R), the fourcolumns and the screws for elevating the main frame.This periodic lubrication should be performed withmachine oil.CAUTION:• Oiling and all maintenance should be done with the toolturned off and unplugged.CleaningAlways brush off dirt, chips and foreign matter adheringto the roller surfaces, motor vents and drums.Limit for re-sharpening of standard blade (Fig. 29)Do not use the standard blade whose blade length isunder 4 mm.To maintain product SAFETY and RELIABILITY, repairs,any other maintenance or adjustment should be per-formed by Makita Authorized Service Centers, alwaysusing Makita replacement parts.ACCESSORIESCAUTION:• These accessories or attachments are recommendedfor use with your Makita tool specified in this manual.The use of any other accessories or attachments mightpresent a risk of injury to persons.
