6FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTIONCAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off andunplugged before adjusting or checking functionon the tool.Adjusting the depth of cut12005344Loosen the lever on the depth guide and move the baseup or down. At the desired depth of cut, secure the baseby tightening the lever.CAUTION:• After adjusting the depth of cut, always tighten thelever securely.SightingA1005345When cutting, align the A position on the front of thebase with your cutting line on the workpiece.Switch actionCAUTION:• Before plugging in the tool, always check to seethat the switch trigger actuates properly andreturns to the "OFF" position when released.1 2005346To prevent the switch trigger from being accidentallypulled, a lock-off button is provided.To start the tool, push in the lock-off button and pull theswitch trigger. Release the switch trigger to stop.ASSEMBLYCAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off andunplugged before carrying out any work on thetool.Installing or removing saw blade1 200534712005348CAUTION:• Use only the Makita wrench provided to install orremove the blade. Failure to do so may result inovertightening or insufficient tightening of the hexbolt. This could cause serious injury to theoperator.• Do not touch the blade with your bare handimmediately after cutting, it may be extremely hotand could burn your skin. Put on pair of gloveswhen removing a hot blade.To remove the blade, first push and turn the knob whichsecures the dust cover clockwise to the symbol andremove the dust cover. Press the shaft lock so that theblade cannot revolve and use the hex wrench to loosenthe hex bolt counterclockwise. Then remove the outerflange and blade.To install the blade, follow the removal procedure inreverse. Always install the blade so that the arrow onthe blade points in the same direction as the arrow onthe blade case.BE SURE TO TIGHTEN THE HEX BOLT SECURELY.1. Hex wrench2. Shaft lock1. Dust cover2.
