8• Do not touch the saw blade, workpiece or cuttingchips with your bare hand immediately aftercutting, they may be extremely hot and could burnyour skin.• Always use the carbide-tipped saw bladesappropriate for your job. The use ofinappropriate saw blades may cause a poorcutting performance and/or present a risk ofpersonal injury.Chip disposal1005355CAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off andunplugged before removing or installing the dustcover.• The dust cover may become hot due to hot chips.Do not touch the cutting chips or dust cover withyour bare hand.When the cutting chips are visible through the sightwindow, dispose of them.Push and turn the knob clockwise to the symboland remove the dust cover. Dispose of the cutting chipsaccumulated inside the dust cover.1 2005347CAUTION:• Do not turn the tool upside down. The cutting chipsaccumulated inside the dust cover may fall out ofthe dust cover.• Handle the dust cover carefully so that it will notbe deformed or damaged.MAINTENANCECAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off andunplugged before attempting to perform inspectionor maintenance.• Never use gasoline, benzine, thinner, alcohol orthe like. Discoloration, deformation or cracks mayresult.Inspecting saw blade• Check the blade carefully for cracks or damagebefore and after each use. Replace a cracked ordamaged blade immediately.• Continuing to use a dull blade may cause adangerous kickback and/or motor overload.Replace with a new blade as soon as it no longercuts effectively.• Carbide-tipped saw blades for metal cuttercannot be re-sharpened.Replacing carbon brushes1001145Remove and check the carbon brushes regularly.Replace when they wear down to the limit mark. Keepthe carbon brushes clean and free to slip in the holders.Both carbon brushes should be replaced at the sametime. Use only identical carbon brushes.1 2005356Use a screwdriver to remove the brush holder caps.Take out the worn carbon brushes, insert the new onesand secure the brush holder caps.To maintain product SAFETY and RELIABILITY, repairs,any other maintenance or adjustment should beperformed by Makita Authorized Service Centers,always using Makita replacement parts.1.
