Turn base 3. Miter scale4. Pointer1. Loosen the fixing screw counterclockwise.2. Adjust the angle of the turn base. Use the pointerand the miter scale as a guide.3. Tighten the fixing screw clockwise firmly.CAUTION: After changing the miter angle,always secure the turn base by tightening thefixing screw firmly.NOTICE: When turning the turn base, be sure toraise the handle fully.Adjusting the bevel angleTo adjust the bevel angle, turn the lever at the rear ofthe tool downward.► Fig.21: 1. LeverTo tilt the blade to the left, hold the handle and tilt thesaw head. Use the bevel scale and the pointer as aguide. Then turn the lever upward firmly to secure thesaw head.► Fig.22: 1. Pointer 2. Bevel scaleTo tilt the blade to the right, hold the handle and tilt thesaw head to the left slightly, and push the release but-ton. With the release button pressed, tilt the saw bladeto the right. Turn the lever upward firmly to secure thesaw head.► Fig.23: 1. Release buttonCAUTION: After changing the bevel angle,always secure the saw head by turning the leverupward firmly.NOTICE: When tilting the saw blade, be sure thehandle is fully raised.NOTICE: When changing bevel angles, besure to position the kerf boards appropriatelyas explained in the “Positioning kerf boards”section.Setting 46° bevel angle1. Loosen the lever and tilt the blade to the left orright fully.► Fig.24: 1. Lever2. To tilt the blade to the left, hold the handle and tiltthe saw head to the right slightly, and then move therelease lever to the direction of the arrow. The bevelangle can be adjusted between 45° to 46° by tilting thesaw head while moving the release lever.To tilt the blade to the right, hold the handle and tilt thesaw head to the left slightly, and then move the releaselever to the direction of the arrow. Turn the lever upward firmly to secure the sawhead.Adjusting the lever positionIf the lever does not provide full tightening in course oftime, change the position of the lever. The lever can berepositioned at every 30° angle.Loosen and remove the screw that secures the lever.Remove the lever and install it again so that it pointsslightly above the horizontal. ScrewSwitch actionWARNING: Before installing the battery car-tridge on the tool, always check to see that theswitch trigger actuates properly and returns tothe “OFF” position when released. Operating a toolwith a switch that does not actuate properly can leadto loss of control and serious personal injury.WARNING: NEVER use tool without a fullyoperative switch trigger. Any tool with an inoper-ative switch is HIGHLY DANGEROUS and must berepaired before further usage or serious personalinjury may occur.WARNING: For your safety, this tool is equippedwith a lock-off button which prevents the tool fromunintended starting. NEVER use the tool if it runswhen you simply pull the switch trigger withoutpressing the lock-off button. A switch in need ofrepair may result in unintentional operation and seri-ous personal injury. Return tool to a Makita servicecenter for proper repairs BEFORE further usage.WARNING: NEVER defeat the lock-off buttonby taping down or some other means. A switch witha negated lock-off button may result in unintentionaloperation and serious personal injury.NOTICE: Do not pull the switch trigger hardwithout pressing in the lock-off button. This cancause switch breakage.To prevent the switch trigger from being accidentallypulled, a lock-off button is provided.
