25 ENGLISH4. Loosen the hex socket bolt securing the guidefence using the hex wrench.► Fig.53: 1. Guide fence 2. Hex socket bolt► Fig.54: 1. Guide fence 2. Hex socket bolt5. Lower the handle fully and lock it in the loweredposition by pushing in the stopper pin.6. Adjust the guide fence until it makes a perpendic-ular angle with the blade using a triangular rule, try-square, etc. Then securely tighten the hex socket bolton the guide fence.► Fig.55: 1. Guide fence 2. Triangular rule 3. Sawblade7. Make sure that the pointer indicates 0° on themiter scale. If the pointer does not indicate 0°, loosenthe screw which secures the pointer and adjust thepointer so that it indicates 0°.► Fig.56: 1. Screw 2. Miter scale 3. PointerBevel angle0° bevel angle1. Lower the handle fully and lock it in the loweredposition by pushing in the stopper pin.2. Loosen the lever at the rear of the tool.3. Turn the 0° bevel angle adjusting bolt on the rightside of the saw head two or three revolutions counter-clockwise to tilt the blade to the right.► Fig.57: 1. Adjusting bolt 2. Lever4. Turn the 0° bevel angle adjusting bolt clockwisecarefully until the side of the blade makes a perpendic-ular angle with the top surface of the turn base. Make sure that the pointer on the arm indicates 0°on the bevel scale. If it does not indicate 0°, loosen thescrew which secures the pointer and adjust the pointerso that it indicates 0°.► Fig.59: 1. Make sure that the pointer on the arm indicates45° on the bevel scale. Triangular ruleAdjusting the laser line positionWARNING: The battery cartridge must beinstalled on the tool while adjusting the laser line.Take extra care not to switch on the tool duringadjustment. Accidental start up of the tool may resultin serious personal injury.CAUTION: Never look directly into the laserbeam. Direct eye exposure to the beam could causeserious damage to your eyes.NOTICE: Check the position of laser line regu-larly for accuracy.NOTICE: Beware that impacts to the tool. It maycause the laser line to be misaligned or may causedamage to the laser, shortening its life.NOTICE: Have the tool repaired by a Makitaauthorized service center for any failure on thelaser unit.The movable range of laser line is decided by the rangeadjustment screws on both sides. Perform followingprocedures to alter the laser line position.1. Remove the battery cartridge.2. Draw a cutting line on the workpiece and place iton the turn base. At this time, do not secure the work-piece with a vise or similar securing device.3. Lower the handle and align the cutting line withthe saw blade.► Fig.62: 1. Cutting line4. Return the handle to the original position andsecure the workpiece with the vertical vise so that theworkpiece does not move from the position you havedetermined.► Fig.63: 1. Vise5. Install the battery cartridge to the tool and turn onthe laser switch.6. Loosen the adjusting screw. To move the laser lineaway from the blade, turn the range adjustment screwscounterclockwise.
