21 ENGLISHLighting up the lampCAUTION: This is not a rainproof light. Do notwash the light in water or use it in a rain or a wetarea. Such a conduct can cause an electric shockand fume.CAUTION: Do not touch the lens of the light,as it is very hot while it is lighted or shortly afterit is turned off. This may cause a burn to a humanbody.CAUTION: Do not apply impact to the light,which may cause damage or shorted service timeto it.CAUTION: Do not keep casting the beam ofthe light to your eyes. This can cause your eyes tobe hurt.CAUTION: Do not cover the light with clothes,carton, cardboard or similar objects while it islighted, which can cause a fire or an ignition.CAUTION: Do not look in the light or see thesource of light directly.To turn on the lamp, press the upper position (I) of theswitch. To turn off the lamp, press the lower position (0)of the switch.► Fig.28: 1. Lamp 2. Lamp switchNOTE: Use a dry cloth to wipe the dirt off the lens ofthe lamp. Be careful not to scratch the lens of lamp, orit may lower the illumination.NOTE: Be sure to turn off the switch as turning on theswitch consumes the battery power.Laser beam actionCAUTION: Never look into the laser beam.Direct laser beam may injure your eyes.To turn on the laser beam, press the upper position (I)of the switch. To turn off the laser beam, press the lowerposition (0) of the switch.► Fig.29: 1. Laser switchNOTE: Be sure to turn off the switch as turning on theswitch consumes the battery power.Laser line can be shifted to either the left or right side ofthe saw blade by turning the adjusting screw as follows.► Fig.30: 1. Adjusting screw1. Loosen the adjusting screw by turning itcounterclockwise.2. With the adjusting screw loosened, slide theadjusting screw to the right or left as far as it goes.3. Tighten the adjusting screw firmly at the positionwhere it stops sliding.NOTE: Laser line is factory adjusted so that it is posi-tioned within 1 mm from the side surface of the blade(cutting position).NOTE: When laser line appears dim and hard to seebecause of direct sunlight, relocate the work area to aplace where there is less direct sunlight.Aligning the laser lineAlign the cutting line on your workpiece with the laserline.► Fig.31A) When you want to obtain the correct size on the leftside of workpiece, shift the laser line to the left of theblade.B) When you want to obtain the correct size on the rightside of workpiece, shift the laser line to the right of theblade.ASSEMBLYWARNING: Always be sure that the tool isswitched off and the battery cartridge is removedbefore working on the tool. Failure to switch off andremove the battery cartridge may result in seriouspersonal injury.Hex wrench storageThe hex wrench is stored as shown in the figure. Whenthe hex wrench is needed it can be pulled out of thewrench holder.After using the hex wrench it can be stored by returningit to the wrench holder.► Fig.32: 1. Wrench holder 2. Hex wrenchInstalling or removing saw bladeWARNING: Always be sure that the tool isswitched off and the battery cartridge is removedbefore installing or removing the blade. Accidentalstart up of the tool may result in serious personalinjury.CAUTION: Use only the Makita hex wrenchprovided to install or remove the blade. Failureto do so may result in overtightening or insufficienttightening of the hex socket bolt. This could causean injury.To remove the blade, perform the following steps:1. Release the stopper pin, and then lock the handlein the raised position by pushing in the stopper pin.► Fig.33: 1. Stopper pin2. Use the hex wrench to loosen the hex socket boltholding the center cover by turning it counterclockwise.Then, raise the blade guard and center cover.► Fig.34: 1. Center cover 2. Hex socket bolt 3. Hexwrench 4. Blade guard3. Press the shaft lock to lock the spindle and usethe hex wrench to loosen the hex socket bolt clockwise.Then remove the hex socket bolt of the spindle, outerflange and blade.► Fig.35: 1. Shaft lock 2.
