7Rotation only (Fig. 8)For drilling in wood, metal or plastic materials, lock buttonand rotate the action mode changing knob to thesymbol. Use a twist drill bit or wood bit.Hammering only (Fig. 9)For chipping, scaling or demolition operations, rotate theaction mode changing knob to the symbol. Use a bullpoint, cold chisel, scaling chisel, etc.CAUTION:• Do not rotate the action mode changing knob when thetool is running under load. The tool will be damaged.• To avoid rapid wear on the mode change mechanism,be sure that the action mode changing knob is alwayspositively located in one of the three action modepositions.Torque limiterThe torque limiter will actuate when a certain torque levelis reached. The motor will disengage from the outputshaft. When this happens, the bit will stop turning.CAUTION:• As soon as the torque limiter actuates, switch off thetool immediately. This will help prevent premature wearof the tool.• Bits such as hole saw, which tend to pintch or catcheasily in the hole, are not appropriate for this tool. Thisis because they will cause the torque limiter to actuatetoo frequently.ASSEMBLYCAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off andunplugged before carrying out any work on the tool.Side grip (auxiliary handle) (Fig. 10)CAUTION:• Always use the side grip to ensure operating safety.Install the side grip so that the teeth on the grip fit inbetween the protrusions on the tool barrel. Then tightenthe grip by turning clockwise at the desired position. Itmay be swung 360° so as to be secured at any position.Bit greaseCoat the bit shank head beforehand with a small amountof bit grease (about 0.5 - 1 g).This chuck lubrication assures smooth action and longerservice life.Installing or removing the bit (Fig. 11)Clean the bit shank and apply bit grease before installingthe bit. (Fig. 12)Insert the bit into the tool. Turn the bit and push it in until itengages.After installing, always make sure that the bit is securelyheld in place by trying to pull it out.To remove the bit, pull the chuck cover down all the wayand pull the bit out. (Fig. 13)Bit angle (when chipping, scaling ordemolishing)For models HR2810, HR2810T, HR2811F, HR2811FT(Fig. 14)The bit can be secured at the desired angle. To changethe bit angle, rotate the action mode changing knob to theO symbol. Turn the bit to the desired angle.Rotate the action mode changing knob to the symbol.Then make sure that the bit is securely held in place byturning it slightly. (Fig. 15)Depth gauge (Fig. 16)The depth gauge is convenient for drilling holes of uniformdepth. Loosen the side grip and insert the depth gaugeinto the hole in the side grip. Adjust the depth gauge to thedesired depth and tighten the side grip.NOTE:• The depth gauge cannot be used at the position wherethe depth gauge strikes against the gear housing.Dust cup (Fig. 17)Use the dust cup to prevent dust from falling over the tooland on yourself when performing overhead drillingoperations. Attach the dust cup to the bit as shown in thefigure. The size of bits which the dust cup can be attachedto is as follows.OPERATIONCAUTION:• Always use the side grip (auxiliary handle) and firmlyhold the tool by both side grip and switch handle duringoperations.Hammer drilling operation (Fig. 18)Set the action mode changing knob to the symbol.Position the bit at the desired location for the hole, thenpull the switch trigger.Do not force the tool. Light pressure gives best results.Keep the tool in position and prevent it from slipping awayfrom the hole.Do not apply more pressure when the hole becomesclogged with chips or particles. Instead, run the tool at anidle, then remove the bit partially from the hole. Byrepeating this several times, the hole will be cleaned outand normal drilling may be resumed.CAUTION:• There is a tremendous and sudden twisting forceexerted on the tool/bit at the time of hole break-through, when the hole becomes clogged with chipsand particles, or when striking reinforcing rodsembedded in the concrete. Always use the side grip(auxiliary handle) and firmly hold the tool by both sidegrip and switch handle during operations. Failure to doso may result in the loss of control of the tool andpotentially severe injury.Bit diameterDust cup 5 6 mm - 14.5 mmDust cup 9 12 mm - 16 mm
