21For tool with the ring (Fig. 30)WARNING:• If the ring is needed to mount the blade onto thespindle, always be sure that the correct ring for theblade’s arbor hole you intend to use is installedbetween the inner and the outer flanges. Use of theincorrect arbor hole ring may result in the impropermounting of the blade causing blade movement andsevere vibration resulting in possible loss of controlduring operation and in serious personal injury. For tool with the inner flange for other than 20 mm or15.88 mm holediameter saw blade (Fig. 31)Country specificThe inner flange has a certain diameter of a blademounting part on one side of it and a different diameter ofblade mounting part on the other side. Choose a correctside on which blade mounting part fits into the saw bladehole perfectly.CAUTION:• Make sure that the blade mounting part “a” on theinner flange that is positioned outside fits into thesaw blade hole “a” perfectly. Mounting the blade onthe wrong side can result in the dangerous vibration.Returning the blade guardReturn the blade guard and center cover to its originalposition. Then tighten the hex socket bolt clockwise tosecure the center cover. Release the handle from theraised position by pulling the stopper pin. Lower thehandle to make sure that the blade guard movesproperly. Make sure shaft lock has released spindlebefore making cut.Connecting a vacuum cleaner (Fig. 32)When you wish to perform clean cutting operation, connect a Makita vacuum cleaner.Dust bag (optional accessory) (Fig. 33)The use of the dust bag makes cutting operations cleanand dust collection easy. To attach the dust bag, fit it ontothe dust nozzle. When the dust bag is about half full, remove the dust bagfrom the tool and pull the fastener out. Empty the dustbag of its contents, tapping it lightly so as to removeparticles adhering to the insides which might hamperfurther collection.Dust box (optional accessory) (Fig. 34, 35 & 36)Insert the dust box into the dust nozzle.Empty the dust box at the earliest possible. To empty the dust box, open the cover by pushing thebutton and throw away sawdust. Return the cover to theoriginal position and it locks. Dust box can easily beremoved by pulling out while turning it near the dustnozzle on the tool.CAUTION:• Empty the dust box before collected sawdust levelreaches the cylinder part.Securing workpiece (Fig. 37)WARNING:• It is extremely important to always secure theworkpiece properly and tightly with the vise. Failure todo so can cause the tool to be damaged and/or theworkpiece to be destroyed. PERSONAL INJURY MAYALSO RESULT. Also, after a cutting operation, DONOT raise the blade until the blade has come to acomplete stop.CAUTION:• When cutting long workpieces, use supports that are ashigh as the top surface level of the turn base. Do notrely solely on the vertical vise and/or horizontal vise tosecure the workpiece.Thin material tends to sag. Support workpiece over itsentire length to avoid blade pinch and possibleKICKBACK.Vertical vise (Fig. 38)The vertical vise can be installed in two positions oneither the left or right side of the guide fence or the holderassembly. Insert the vise rod into the hole in the guidefence or the holder assembly and tighten the screw tosecure the vise rod.Position the vise arm according to the thickness andshape of the workpiece and secure the vise arm bytightening the screw. If the screw to secure the vise armcontacts the guide fence, install the screw on theopposite side of vise arm. Make sure that no part of thetool contacts the vise when lowering the handle fully andpulling or pushing the carriage all the way. If some partcontacts the vise, re-position the vise.Press the workpiece flat against the guide fence and theturn base. Position the workpiece at the desired cuttingposition and secure it firmly by tightening the vise knob.CAUTION:• The workpiece must be secured firmly against the turnbase and guide fence with the vise during alloperations.Horizontal vise (optional accessory) (Fig. 39)The horizontal vise can be installed on the left side of thebase. By turning the vise knob counterclockwise, thescrew is released and the vise shaft can be movedrapidly in and out. By turning the vise knob clockwise, thescrew remains secured. To grip the workpiece, turn thevise knob gently clockwise until the projection reaches itstopmost position, then fasten securely. If the vise knob isforced in or pulled out while being turned clockwise, theprojection may stop at an angle. In this case, turn thevise knob back counterclockwise until the screw isreleased, before turning again gently clockwise. The maximum width of the workpiece which can besecured by the horizontal vise is 120 mm.CAUTION:• Grip the workpiece only when the projection is at thetopmost position. Failure to do so may result ininsufficient securing of the workpiece. This could causethe workpiece to be thrown, cause damage to the bladeor cause the loss of control, which can result inPERSONAL INJURY. |
