14Horizontal vise (optional accessory)12 3011343The horizontal vise can be installed in two positions oneither the left or right side of the base. When performing10° or greater miter cuts, install the horizontal vise on theside opposite the direction in which the turn base is to beturned.005232By flipping the vise nut counterclockwise, the vise isreleased, and rapidly moves in and out. To grip theworkpiece, push the vise knob forward until the vise platecontacts the workpiece and flip the vise nut clockwise. Then turn the vise knob clockwise to secure theworkpiece. The maximum width of workpiece which can be securedby the horizontal vise is 215 mm.When installing the horizontal vise on the right side ofthe base, also use the sub-fence R to secure theworkpiece more firmly. Refer to the "Sub-fence R"section described on previously for installing thesub-fence R.WARNING:• Always rotate the vise nut clockwise until theworkpiece is properly secured. If the workpieceis not properly secured the material may moveduring the cutting operation causing possibledamage to the blade, causing the material to bethrown and loss of control resulting in seriouspersonal injury.• When cutting a thin workpiece, such as baseboards, against the fence, always use thehorizontal vise.Holders1011378The holders can be installed on either side as aconvenient means of holding workpieces horizontally.Slip fully the holder rods into the holes in the base. Thentighten the holders securely with the screws.WARNING:• Always support a long workpiece so it is levelwith the top surface of the turn base for anaccurate cut and to prevent dangerous loss oftool control. Proper workpiece support will helpavoid blade pinch and possible kickback which mayresult in serious personal injury.OPERATIONNOTICE:• Before use, be sure to release the handle from thelowered position by pulling the stopper pin.• Do not apply excessive pressure on the handlewhen cutting. Too much force may result inoverload of the motor and/or decreased cuttingefficiency. Push down handle with only as muchforce as is necessary for smooth cutting andwithout significant decrease in blade speed.• Gently press down the handle to perform the cut. Ifthe handle is pressed down with force or if lateralforce is applied, the blade will vibrate and leave amark (saw mark) in the workpiece and the precisionof the cut will be impaired.• During a slide cut, gently push the carriage towardthe guide fence without stopping. If the carriagemovement is stopped during the cut, a mark will beleft in the workpiece and the precision of the cut willbe impaired.WARNING:• Make sure the blade is not contacting theworkpiece, etc. before the switch is turned on.Turning the tool on with the blade in contact with theworkpiece may result in kickback and seriouspersonal injury.1.
