7STARTING12A- Hook the extension cord (A/1) in the strain reliever (A/2).3B- Connect the mains plug (B/3) with the extension powercord.5476C- Hold the front handle (C/4) with one hand, depressing thefront grip safety (C/5).- Grasp the rear handle (C/6) with the other hand and startthe trimmer with the rear handle grip safety (C/7).Caution: The trimmer will start immediately!Note: The hedge trimmer will start only when both grip safeties(C/5 and C/7) are depressed.Caution: If the hedge trimmer starts after acuating onlyone of the switches, do not work with the trimmer! Take thetrimmer to a MAKITA service center.To switch off: Release one or both grip safeties. The trimmerwill stop immediately.Checking the cutter brakeCheck the cutter brake each time before starting work!- Start the trimmer as described above.- Grasp the front handle firmly with one hand. Hold the rearhandle with the other hand.- Depress and then release the rear handle grip safety (C/7).The cutter should stop instantly.Important: If the cutter does not stop immediatelyduring this test, do not work with the trimmer! Take thetrimmer to a MAKITA service center.MAINTENANCETo ensure a long servicelife and to prevent any damage themaintenance work described in the following must be performedregularly.
